new mage, need spec helpFollow
hey guys, ive had a few other char but never a mage. i liked there dps so i made one, only at lvl 8 and want some spec advice. i no that fire is for the highest dps, but im not 100% about wat the different specs r good for. i also would like to know wat a good spec is for a balance of dps and some defensive abilities

well ive read that guide, but wat i really wanna know is wat the specs r good for, and what advice ppl have for what specs r good?
hello,
um... if i get the question right... fire is great for dps... frost is good for pissing off people in pvp and good for pve and raids... arcane is good for mana pool and burst damge( mostly taken as a secondary talent tree)... fire u do GREAT DAMAGE but u run out of mana fast... frost is not as good on damage as fire but it is a great all round build plus u can take talents to enhance the frost power anywayz. ur best bet is to start off fire for lvling but then go frost around lvl 30'ish plus. frost is great for soloing around lvl 40 because u get frost sheild. plus when ur lvl 49 and in frost or fire u can kill like the wind... if u play right u can beat anything. if u plan to keep the toon um... definetly take arcane at a secondary talent tree
my lvl 24 mage is speced like this but it basicaly comes down to what u like to play lol hope this helps. and mage sure u read other forums on mages they are really fun!

This Index of Mage Guides may be helpful. In particular, there is a Talent Progression Guide that has a number of different specs, what they're intended for, and the order in which to get the talents.
