I'm still pretty new to WoW so I'm not sure how things are supposed to work. Currently I'm a level 22 Dwarf Warrior. When I started I was given Axe and 2h Axe proficiencies. I later found the Weapons Trainer in Iron Forge and learned everything I could from throwing to dagger skills. BUT there was no option for swords/2h swords.

My question is, does Race play a role in what weapons can be used? Most lore has Dwarves using Axes so i wasn't surprised when I started with one. But being a warrior I figured swords would be one of the first weapons I started to use.

If I can use swords, where do I learn it? I have been back to the Weapons Trainer and there is nothing available.

Warriors can use every type of weapon but wands. You just need to find the right trainer. I have a Horde warrior, so I'm not sure where an ally would find that trainer. Sit tight..I'm sure someone will chime in :)

There are usually 3-4 weapons masters, each one can only teach you specific weapons useage. There is one in each major city, each one has a select group of weapons they train. If you are looking for the one who trains 1H and 2H swords, you need Woo Ping, in Stormwind. Hes in the weapons shop just opposite the AH.

Also, if you ask any Weapon Master you do know, they'll tell you who can teach you what, if you read their dialog.
