It's probably answered in the 101, but I read that strength was the most important stat for damage in feral forms, followed by agility. I need to put my thoughts down on paper and figured I might as well share it with you. I just need to figure this out.
Here are the facts:
1 strength = 2 attack power.
1 agility = 1 attack power, 2 armor points and increased critical/dodge rating.
"of the Bandit" has agility, stamina and attack power.
"of the Beast" has agility, stamina and strength.
"of the Bear" has stamina and strength.
Heart of the Wild (talent) increases my strength by 20% while in Cat form.
Cat form increases my attack power by x plus agility.
The Cat form bonus means it isn't favorable to pick "of the Bear" over "of the Bandit" as you'll get a bonus for each agility point you have as well, not to mention the lost critical strike rating you'll lose from stacking "of the Bear".
Basically Heart of the Wild increases the strength attribute on an item by 20%, right? So if I look at an item with +strength I should really multiply it with 1.20 to get the "real" value.
Strength will give me 20% more attack power than double the amount in pure attack power. +20 strength thus is more valuable than +40 attack power. At the same time, agility is more valuable than pure strength as +20 agility would give you 40 additional armor, increased critical strike rating, dodge rating and would increase the attack power by 20 as well.
So "of the Beast" is better than "of the Bear" or "of the Bandit", as long as the attributes are of the same level.
Glad I settled this.
