Mining/Smithing RateFollow

Well my first character Pally hit lv30, but I am not sure if I have a reasonable mining or smithing level, as I am encourtering a few veins that I cannot mine!
Here are my levels:
63 smithing
103 mining

Is it normal for my smithing and mining to be this low compared to lets say, skinning and leatherworking?
I think so because smithing requires alot of ingredients while veins are rare, unlike animals that you can skin.

What is your opinion on my smithing and mining levels?

you should maintain your professions based on the abundance of materials for the areas that you are currently exploring.

example: u should be totally out of copper mining/BS by the time you hit ~lvl 20 and questing duskwood. you should have detect mining on ALWAYS and mine every node. if you need to go to a lesser zone for lower lvl mining, then the profession becomes tedious and ultimately will cost you more time and money.
