hey there. my friend and i were gonna start up a pair of warlocks, hes definatly going demonology but i dunno what to go, warlock shammy and pally are the only 3 classes ive never messed with

which tree would be a better bet to go down for me, destruction or afliction? it seems to me most of their spells are DOT's so im guessing affliction is the way to go. can you actually deal decent dmg with the destruction tree? obviously mages are the king at that but do warlocks get decent enough spells to make that tree worth while or should i just stick with afliction?

tnx

You should read some of the other posts in the forum, and I'm sure your questions will be answered.

In short, you can get some very good numbers with either build. Affliction tends to focus on "slow burn" and destruction focuses on "burst dps". Many players blend the two to make some very effective hybrid builds, e.g. look up SM/Ruin and the BC modifications of this classic warlock build.

Another example focusing on the destruction side of it, look up the NF/SnF build (17+/0/40). This build makes you the glass cannon, similar to a mage in damage and squishiness. If you go 21 in Affl with this build, you are forced to choose between a fourth DoT (Soul Siphon) or CoE. Or alternatively you can just go far enough in Aff to get Nightfall and get 4/5 Demonic Resilience for the Sta boost (or spend those 4 points anyway you like).

Just read up a bit and decide how you want to play your lock.
