Soul siphon / Drain health questionFollow

Hi All,

I was looking at the Soul Siphon talent and just had a quick question that hopefully someone can answer. It says that with 2 points in this talent you get +5% of Drain Health per afflic spell on a target. Fair enough that makes perfect sense. Here's the question:

Does having Drain Health on a target count as an additional afflic spell?? i.e. do you get an automatic +5% for landing Drain Health?

I ask this because the maximum allowed in 60%. Now, if you Corrupt, Unstable Affliction, Curse of Agony, Siphon Life, and Fear a target, thats 25%. if IDrain Health also counts then that brings it up to 30% which means that basically the most you should have is 2 warlocks on a target to get the most drainage, which is nice and neat and to me makes more sense. However, if Drain Health doesn't count then you only have 50% with 2 warlocks and you need a third to put a couple of DoT's on as well, which seems to be alot messier and more awkward.

Thanks for the help.

Not sure about Drain Health counting, but with 1 point in Shadow Embrace you can get another 5% as that counts as an Affliction Effect.

I believe:

CoA
Cor
Shad Emb
Soul Siphon
and the Drain Life effect itself

all add up to a +25 bonus, making this worth it.

What about Fear? It's an Affliction spell, but I've tested it and it doesn't seem to affect Drain Life with Soul Siphon.

Soul Siphon is ownage in group situations if you have another Warlock with you. Add a Shadow Priest to the group as well and you'll be sucking the mobs dry in no time.

60% total extra effect, at 5% for each Affliction spell. So with 12 Affliction spells on the target your Drain Life will be dealing 60% increased damage. Easily doable in a raid. Add Shadow Weaving from the Shadow Priest and that's another 15% damage. Add Misery from the Shadow Priest as well and that's 5% more damage on top of everything.

Which should land Drain Life at a total of 72% increased damage which isn't bad.

Of course not.

But Shadow Priests with can get a debuff called Shadow Weaving which increases all shadow damage done to the target by 3% per application to a total of 15%. And Misery is another debuff applied whenever the Shadow Priest with the talent casts a shadow spell. Misery increases all spell damage done to the target by 5%.

The two debuffs affect all magical damage dealt to the target, just like Curse of Shadow/Elements.

I am 99% certain that the answer is no. Drain Life is a shadow spell so will only be affected by +spell dmg or +shadow dmg.

So just as a recap from everyone we are looking at:

Any curse (Possibly Curse of shadows would give you a highest drain life??)
Corruption
Unstable Affliction
Shadow Embrace
Soul Siphon

And then we aren't sure about Fear or Drain Life itself.

don't forget the 10% (13% if talented) bonus from CoS along with the 5% bonus of having it on the target

thanks. I was wondering if the + to healing spells and effects would count to the amount of life gained from life drain. after all, 70 warlock gear has some of that showing.
