First aid for a druidFollow

#1 Apr 10 2007 at 7:21 AM Rating: Decent
I'm rolling a new druid. I will be feral until atleast 40 where i might respec to balance. Is first aid worth it for a druid, as they cant use bandages when shapeshifted, and when they're not they can just heal anyway? Thanks.

It is very valuable. You can use it as a moonkin, not sure about tree of life. But either way, in a tight spot when low on mana, root and bandage. We can heal but its always nice to have other options.

After a fight:
When you're bandaging , you're not using mana.
When you're not using mana, you get out of the five second rule.
When you're out of the five second rule , you start regenerating mana faster.

So basicly bandaging reduces downtime.

I agree with the other responses...DEFINITELY level up your first aid.

Bandages actually do a surprisingly good job of getting HP up just about as quickly as your HoT heals, just require channeling of course. I generally use bandages whenever I can to preserve mana and get back to generating mana more quickly, as mentioned above. I do most of my in-combat healing with mana but then after the fight I do a lot (most?) with bandages.

Do it sooner than later, too, while you're collecting level-appropriate cloth. I didn't have the epiphany that bandages are mana-free healing until I was in my mid-30s. By then I wasn't killing mobs that drop linen or wool anymore (and I didn't feel like farming) so I had to play catchup by buying it on AH.

Nothing wrong with a druid having first aid and bandages. I use it in PVP.

If you build it up while leveling, you generally gather more than enough cloth without even trying, to level it to max! I know in outlands, I had 375 FA before I left hellfire peninsula!

O.K. thanks. I just thaught that I might be able to make some money by selling the cloth on the AH.

You will probably be able to make 5-10 more stacks of cloth after you're done with the related bandages and before mobs your level stop dropping it.

Currently at 45 on my Pally and I've been done with Silk and Heavy Silk bandages. Yet humanoids kept dropping it in massive quantities until recently. I've sold at least 10 stacks on the AH I believe.

Also, you might wanna check the economy on your server. On mine, some types of cloth are sold for little more than the vendors pay for them so you won't be losing much by making bandages and leveling your FA.

Misc info: You can always sell the bandages to the vendors. Bandages are worth more than the cloth used in its "raw" form. That is true for bandages past linen and wool which are worth more to the vendor when sold in their "raw" form.

I have a lvl 43 NElf who can already make Netheweave bandages! lol

Definatly worth it for a Boomkin druid

In my server selling bandages to the AH didn't seem to work. A sold none! (my prices were quite reasonable only a bit higher than vendor price). So I started selling them to vendors. A stuck of 20 mageweave bandages for 1.20 gold is not a bad trade at all. And since you can heal yourself you WILL have many unused stucks in your inventory or your bank.

So you can first test how the market in your server is (as far as it concerns bandages). Then, if things don't look good sell them to vendors without second thoughts :)

I learned first aid on my druid, got it to 375 and still had enough cloth left to skill up my tailor alt. So I would definitely NOT pass on this great skill only on the basis that you might waste a bit of cloth levelling it up.

The great aspect of first aid for me, as a feral:
- at I progress in lvl my eq gets more and more specialized, esp. in Outland, to the point where I am not wearing ANY eq with +int. Therefore for the first time I'm starting to have issues with mana from time to time. First aid can help in this case
- first aid starts healing you as soon as you hit the button, whereas heals starting healing after casting time (+ HoT tick). It sounds like a negligible difference, but when in a tough spot it can make a lot of difference, yes even 1 second worth of healing can make a difference. While soloing elites it can be really useful to bash/root, jump back and bandage.
- it reduces your downtime, especially in situations with strong time pressure, e.g. escort quests.

EDIT: re: unused bandages, I usually either send them to alts who can use them (e.g. my rogue needs a lot of bandages), or I give them away to warriors (and similar classes) in my guild. Everybody is happy.

Yes! Max it out. Rather than healing yourself use a bandage, it saves mana. You can also bandage other people as long as they don't move. I've kept raid members alive playing field medic when OOM.

Every healer class should have first-aid. Because you can use bandages to heal yourself while saving mana for when you need it. This is especially nice when your the main healer, and you need to heal yourself and still have mana left over to heal the MT or whoever needs it.
