I'm considering leveling up my Druid alt to be a resto build for my group's 5 man heroic runs, and I have some "make or break" questions about how the Tree of Life form works. I've tried searching the forums already and didn't find the details that I'm looking for, so I apologise if this is either common Druid knowledge or has been explained before. Part of the description of the Tree of Life form says "While in this form you increase healing recieved by %25 of your total Sprit for all party members within 45 yards". I'm wondering how this actually works with various types of healing. First off, it sounds like this affects healing spells cast by other players too. Is this true? If so, does anyone know in particular (first hand experience) how this interacts with:

1) Shaman's Healing Stream Totem - does this bonus get applied to each tick, get averaged over the entire duration (60 seconds with a tick every 2 seconds), or not at all?

2) Priest's Vampiric Embrace - Is this source considered healing from the mob or healing from the Priest? Does Vampiric Embrace benefit from the Tree of Life bonus at all?

3) Warlock's Soul Leech procs/Drain Life/Siphon Life/Health Funnel - do these get the bonus?

4) Do Lifestealing affects on weapons get this bonus?

5) How about things like food/bandages?

I know that these are a lot of questions and I really appreciate any help you Druid pros can give me! My Druid alt is only level 18, and I've never really come across a Druid using Tree of Life with my 70 Warlock. My 4 buddies and I are looking to run 5 man heroic instances pretty much exclusively together, and since one of my buddies also has a Warlock, I'm thinking about giving my Druid a whirl. If the Tree of Life bonus works the way I'm hoping it does with Healing Stream totems and Vampiric Embrace, this could form a freaky good synergy and will be well worth the effort of me and my buddies power leveling me and gearing me up. Thanks again!

I thought I'd give it the weekend to see if anyone had an answer. I guess not, bummer :( Are there any Resto Druids out there?

Well, I thought this would be answered sometime this weekend too. I refrained from posting since you asked for "first-hand experience" which I don't have, but I usually check the wording of the spells descriptions to decode how it works.

ToL wrote:
While in this form you increase healing received by 25% of your total Spirit for all party members within 45 yards

So let's say you have 100 Spirit, everyone gets +25 healing. But instead of giving everyone the equivalent of +25 Healing, it means all receivers give their healers +25 Healing. In a 5-man it makes no difference. The only different would be in a raid in which instead of being put with the healers (to increase their +Healing) you'd be put with the tanks (to increase the healing they receive) So basically, you increase healing received.

Yes. That's the whole point of the aura. ;) (Post-patch 2.0.1 I believe)

Healing Steam Totem wrote:
Summons a Healing Stream Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster for 1 min that heals group members within 20 yards for XX every 2 seconds

Since the totem heals, I'd say it applies.

Vampiric Embrace wrote:
Afflicts your target with Shadow energy that causes all party members to be healed for 15% of any Shadow spell damage you deal for 60 seconds.

Same as totem, it says it heals your party members, so I'd think ToL increases that.

Drain Life wrote:
Transfers 10 health every second from the target to the caster. Lasts 5 seconds.

Does not seem to count as healing. It's leeching.

Health Funnel wrote:
Gives 12 health to the caster's pet every second for 10 seconds as long as the caster channels.

Again, it's health restoration, not healing I believe.

Siphon Life wrote:
Transfers 15 health from the target to the caster every 3 sec. Lasts 30 seconds.

Same as Drain Life.

Soul Leach wrote:
Gives your [...] spells a 10% chance to return health equal to 20% of the damage caused.

Like other Warlock stuff so far, this isn't healing, it's health restoration.

Enchant Lifestealing wrote:
Teaches you how to permanently enchant a weapon to occasionally steal some of the health of the foe and give it to the wielder.

Does not seem to be healing as much as restoring life, which isn't the same. I don't think it applies on this either.

Red Shiny Apple wrote:
Restores 61 health over 18 seconds. Must remain seated while eating

Again, life restoration, not healing.

Heavy Runecloth Bandage wrote:
Heals 2000 damage over 8 seconds.

This is healing, so I'd be tempted to say ToL aura works on this. (Never tried though)

Sooooooo. Sorry if I can't be more helpful than just pointing out the wording in descriptions, but this is all I can think of. If someone could give more details or anything, please do so.

I am a resto druid, but I have little experience being in parties with the classes mentioned here.

Yes it does. I am frequently put in groups expected to take a lot of damage so that cure spells cast on them will be more effective.

Example:
I'm in Group 1, with MT and OT warriors/bears, so that the heals cast on these (from the healers in other groups) lands for more. This is really confusing to a lot of people, including druids. When ToL was first released, it worked differently.

I will state with conviction, you can solo heal 5-mans in treeform. I've done it. However, paired with another healer is when ToL really shines.

I can only comment on the Vampiric Embrace. VE + ToL is an INCREDIBLE combination. I am on the best friends list of several shadow priests for this reason. They get to do their mad dps, and the AoE healing is near broken amounts. I do the happy tree dance every time I see a shadow priest.

I've been five-maning my Kaz key with a shaman main healer. He insists I be catform (would strongly prefer I spec entirely feral) so my guess is that if ToL affects totems at all, it's minimal.

Thanks for the info! Now that I know this works with Vampiric Embrace I think I'll dust off my Druid and take him for a spin. I'm curious about that Shaman, because I'd think that if ToL works with Vampiric Embrace it'd also work with Healing Stream totems. I'm excited to try this 5 man group out. Thanks again!
