raid dps builds, primarily focusing around fireFollow

#1 Apr 14 2007 at 9:14 AM Rating: Decent
I've been respeccing lately and hopping around many specs. I still cant seem to find the spec where i can pvp and dps well in the raid charts. Right now i'm giving 40/21/0 a shot, and its not my thing. Going heavy fire sounds nice, but is giving up spell power worth it? I've heard stories of elemental mages dps very well in raids, but i'm not too sure about that. Like i said i want a spec where i can dps well in raids as well as having some vital pvp talents. Please gimme suggestions of your personal builds. Thanks

If you are in Karazhan, but you still want to PVP a lot, go 35/26 and pick up Pyroblast and Blastwave. IMO that's the best all around spec for PVP/PVE but is not the best option for raiding as full fire will out damage it in dps.

Looking at your gear, you're pretty well-equipped for a crit build.

Don't worry too much about losing your spellpower by dropping arcane, the crit rate from something like http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=kZxgGzbccReobbNG0o0xo should more than make up for it. It's not a concrete build and I strongly suggest that you try a few things out, just move down the fire tree picking up +% crit and +% damage talents and you can't go far wrong. The frost points are largely used to help you remain viable in PvP but you could always take Imp. Counterspell and PoM instead.

I think this deep fire build will be good for pvp and raids. It has the damage, the crit and combustion and blastwave and also dragons breath which is a fantastic pvp spell due the disorient effect. Plus arcane concentration to effectively save you 10% mana which is excellent for raiding.

I see no reason that this build cant be very good at both.

Edit: it's really just a slight variation on the cookie cutter raid build 10/48/3, just switched a couple of talents around to give it some more pvp viability.
