Mutilate was already popular and now it seems a lot of people are swithing to it since they don't need the 7 pts in sub anymore.

I personnally love the sub tree so i'm going to stick to it but i fear for our demand in 5-mans and raids...

Since I no longer have any reason to go into Subtlety, I'll stick with my Combat Swords build. I like the Ambush build, and I really want to try out Shadowstep, but I just can't overlook the awesome DPS of the swords build.

Im not sure what im gonna do.

I have a few points in sub to get MoD, Opp and Initiative which are still useful.

I plan to still PvP a bit so i think i'll keep the points there for a while. Mut/Combat does sound like some good ownage in instances, but my current spec should be able to perform well enough.

the moment they release a 2.7+ speed weapon with better dps then a gladiator weapon, ill throw down into a AR/prep fistin'-hemo build

till then, its full fist combat

LOL

of course I ll spend fully 41 talent points in the SUB tree.
After all this is a game isn't it?
What are the games for?

F U N !!!

What is shadowstep?

F U N !!!

I just gotta try it and after quite a reading I believe that my ambushes will own.

The thing is there is no point in speccing before 58lvl because who goes 41 in sub needs 5 points in malice and the 3 points in backstab.

After that Burning Crusade - Lethality, if u want ss, evi, relentless strikes, whatever...

Hah i forgot:

U get +15%to Agi and +10% AP which is alot with good gear,

plus:

from shadowstep +20%damage on your ambush, since it will be crit it makes it +40%
and also there is this ability that gives u +12% damage on all attack 6 sec after stealth

So literally the battle will be over in these 6sec after ypur brutal ambush

But i agree that if you are not at least 58lvl there is no point.

Except that doesn't happen. You are right about shadowstep being really fun, but that's about it.

If you want fast kills mutilate is where i've found it. Maybe combat, I havent been combat since like level 40.

I definately recommend everyone try out shadowstep at some point. It is a lot of fun to play with.

ArthemisEntreri, I played have played all 3 trees at 67 to see what I liked most. Problem with Subtlety is you might get an Ambush in for some good damage, but if you go to battlegrounds at all, any character with over 12k armor is just going to laugh at you. IMO Assassination carries more damage overtime and offers more control than Subtlety. My highest crit on a clothie in PVP was 3200. When they have 6000+ health you've got a ways to go but you can kill them. Now I dont know the math behind the mitigation of plate or mail armor, but to me ShadowStep doesn't cut it. It's a FUN talent as you put it, but not practical.

A recent convert to Combat fists I find it hard to ever switch back into Subtlety, especially now that Sap (staying stealthed) is just a skill and you don't need points in Sub. Might go back to Assassination once I hit 70 and I find some really good daggers, or I might stay Combat/fist to have a constant DPS. Anyway, Shadow Step was fun, nothing more.

Arthemis I agree entirely with you on the fun part and if i was playing an online game i wouldn't even wonder.

but the thing is WoW is a community game and when you raid or 5mans then you are supposed to be efficient and then have fun.

hence my question :)

After The patch, I am going to go combat for 9 more levels.

Once I have finally reached 70

I will Go back to Sub, but with swords. No SS for meeee.

My 39 rogue, going an unusual hybrid sub/combat. I hope to max out deflection to get riposte and pecision and dual-weild in combat, but atm im sub.

I'm sure those people who went heavily into sub will continue to do so even after imp sap is added as a skill. The tallent that replaces it is actually pretty good for PvP anyway. The people who were forced into 7 points of sub will now have an extra 2 to 7 points to make a more efficient build - and they will be just as useful in heroics as they will have reasonable CC. Imp sap was nice for sub rogues, but it wasn't the reason they went into the tree.

On that note, many people play 30/0/31 dagger builds for arena, I'm sure they will continue to do so. Not many people play hemo anymore, as it's hard to find new slow weapons (2.7 is the current slowest IIRC). People who like shadowstep will probably still like shadowstep. That's like saying I wouldn't spec mutilate because murder was changed...

Thanks I get your point and i guess you are right about that its just fun.
But exactly how someone put it "everyone have to try shadowstep at some point" so i gotta try it.
I never thought about the armor though...I guess really assassination and combat are the powerful trees...

Anyways, so far 55lvls of combat swords i find them brutal but honestly i ll try the shadowstep at 58lvl.
The thing is to use Mut u need 2 daggers and i just dont like that but thats a mental issue of mine, however for sure after some lvls with shadow i ll end up using the daggers in both hands.

Im lvl 31 atm and currently working down the sub tree for SS with a few points in assassination (malice & imp backstab ) works quite well for grinding and it did well in the 29 BGs.
new patch will be great means I will get 2 extra points that I will be putting into remorseless so I have a 100% chance to crit with ambush when grinding.

but yeah at lvl 70 I may be going 41/20/00 since it seams (from what I have read) to perform better endgame

I am Sub and I will probably stay that way. Although I would be interested in trying out different builds. Maybe Ill switch to a different one since they'll probably refund our talent points anyway and then respec later if I don't like it. I was assassination originally but swicthed to subtely because I liked the idea of being able to use Preperation and Vanish and being able to get another Stealth move in. I liked being able to Ambush someone twice in one fight if I have to.

i dont see the big mental issue of having to use two daggers, really unless you spec for one of the wpn talents you should have nice stat/fast OH.. which usually comes in the form of a dagger.
i know their are other forms of fast wpns out their but your really not likely going to see a 1.3spd mace/sword/fist and the reason for a fast OH is to get your poisons on the target as fast as you can.

i know that some hemo spec rogues will stick with two above 2.spd wpns but a lot of combat rogues will MH what their spec'd for and OH a fast wpn, which like above says.. is usually a dagger.. unless your a swordsmith and go for fireguard or w/e its called.. 1.6spd sword.

one of the best rogue DPS wpn actually comes in the form of a dagger and its also really fast.. the perfect OH for non mutilate dagger rogues.. i know theirs others but for DPS its one of the best.. slap 15agi on it and your set to go http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=23555&locale=enUS;source=live
^^its a normal BLKSMITH wpn no specialization needed to craft.

but this is coming from a rogue that loves mutilate i switched to it from hemo and i can basically stunlock like a hemo rogue i just do twice the amount of burst dmg so the stun locks that would last a good 30-40secs as hemo now only last 15-20 because your dmg is just amazing.. i just cant wait to upgrade my gear and get better daggers, but with mut i would suggest carry another wpn that you have high wpn skill in cuz not every mob is poisonable and unless uve put points into imp BS your mut lose 50% of its dmg.. i carry a mace.

oh.. mut rogues want two high dmg daggers with slow spd, and because your mut hits with both daggers u apply poison just as fast as if you had a fast OH wpn. and another thing.. i know SS is like 40energy but i dont know of that many SS crits hitting for 2k dmg like mut does(dont use SS much, never been combat), double crit 1300 anyone? 3CP.. CB envemon 2600, and it only gets better as your gear does; but its also true for other specs.. but basically just play what you like and have fun doing it.. ive just always used a fast OH wpn and always wonder why a dagger spec rogue is using a dagger MH and a 2.6sword OH.. its always puzzled me... well i can think of why but i just think its stupid<my opinion just like everything else ive written.

PS.. sub tree is useless now for rogues that spec heavely into assa/combat, if you were 41sub u will mostly stay 41 cuz you clearly enjoy that tree and the talents that it brings, hemo is still great just lacks dmg, but for energy/stun control its still the king id say. last thing>> if you pvp i can still see a lot of ppl dipping into sub for MoD, not sure how many hardcore pvers will but the gankers/pvpers will mostly drop 5points into sub.

new mutilate.. just so those who havent seen it can. http://www.realmhistory.net/images/210/new-mutilate-anim.gif
