Well i just started and decided to go with locks. They seems to be a damage output machine and very usefull. Id like to become a PvP based lock but im not sure which is the best talent tree for that. Im lvl 28 and so far put most of my points in demonology. Well with affliction it seems that i can lay down curses like theres no tomorrow but that just make me wonder if ill just get killed and then my opponent will end up dying. Demonology doesnt seem useful for PvP until you get the Felguard, and from what ive heard, he owns PvP hard. Destruction also seems sweet cause you can just throw out damage while sitting back and relaxing. I think id like the Felguard but if it isnt as usefull as i think it is, then id rather go with destruction. Do you guys have any suggestions?

All the specs do well in PvP, when played well.

I , personally, do best with a Destruction build, I also find it funner.

Level 40 is when PvP gets really fun for our class ( & funner at 42 )

I suggest Trying ALL the specs at least once...

For me, the decision maker is.... In a 1 on 1, with destruction I can take anyone down fast, without fear ( its tough being an alliance lock )

& because the battles go faster, I'm less likely to be jumped, which happens so so often, more often than not...

& when Its a 2 on 1 in my sides favor ( or 3 or 4 or 5 on 1 ) Or a Large melee, I can eliminate targets in very very short order.

When you get high enough, Shadowfury is, I think, the coolest damn spell in the game... Nothing like doinng 1500 Damage to 10-15 Horde & stopping them in their tracks in AV .

Good luck have fun.

Affliction makes you an offensive juggernaut is that you are very mobile and have the ability to place the other team's healer under consider stress to keep people alive.
Downside? You lack burst damage and warlocks are a prime target in PvP.

Demonology makes you a beast in that Soul Link, 12k hp, and the fel guard are going to make it so you can take a still lay out damage.
Downside? You have to rely on baseline spells and if the demon is banished or killed, you lose everything.

Destruction makes you a speed killer in that you can reduce a player to a smoldering pile of ash so quickly they won't know what hit them.
Downside? Need to be careful not to burn through your entire mana bar and you have the lowest defenses of all 3 lines.

So, all 3 lines are good for PvP, pick you poison and start racking up honor points.

Respec from demo until you get about 50 (felguard), the other minions can't keep up the dps of affl. or the burst of destro. I personally am Affl. at 48, and have never had any problem (at any lvl) with pvp (pvp server).

With Affl., you have to pay attention to what's around you - w/grim reach you can toss out dps on enemies while putting distance between yourself. Instant cast allows you to actually run away from them *while* casting. You can also easily hold an opposing player and any mob you've aggroed (continuing damage from dots). The only classes you'll have trouble from are rogues (perception or paranoia solves this) or pallys (which can be solved with CoT). If I die, the other players die shortly after from my dots even with a dedicated healer.

With Destro., it's all about tossing out damage. I've never specced this, but my 70 friends say that you shouldn't go for it until you can find good +dmg equips (which makes sense when you're lower than 40).

I agree, Spec Affliction from 40-50 . Just Dot Dot Dot, Fear & let them die while you Dot another Mob... You'll 'blaze' through the levels.

As for Destro, with the addition of Burning crusade & the Auction house 'Outlands' gear. You can approach 25% crit rate with a full set of gear that costs 30-40g. Thats 25% Base, + 8% from Backlash & Ruin. Thats 33% crit rate. 1 out of every 3 spells... Not bad! Especially if your Shadowfurying 10-12 Horde at once, you'll see alot of '1200's' fly through the air. It's quite entertaining.

People will say, As a destruction warlock, you are a 'glass cannon' . & If your wearing your crit gear, its true you'll have far fewer hp's ( I have about 4k with my crit gear on ) But I only wear my crit gear on Large melee battlegrounds ( & instances ) where I know I'll be AOE'ing Madly & staying behind the safety of my allies.. In Smaller encounters, or when I'm leading or guarding a graveyard, I keep my Hitpoint gear on.

& there's nothing 'Glass' about 9k Hitpoints & a 2k HP Voidwalker shield ( lvl 60 ). But the cannon still applies, because I still have my Big damage, & about 15% crit rate.

Destruction is a more versatile build than you hear. The Survivability is great. Shadowfury will buy you 2 seconds to cast fear or Howl of terror Time & time again, & it can also stop a dozen or more horde in their tracks. The damage it does is just icing on the cake, but it I see people take a dirt nap from its crits all the time.

Voidwalker Bubble, Shadowfury + Howl of terror FTW! Time & time again...

Like mentioned above, Try out every spec for yourself. I have tired all of them. I started out affliction till 50, respecced to demon, and desto, but its all about what fits your playstyle.

I respecced back to affliction because it fits the way i play. In bg's, especially wsg, I am always in the top 3 in dmg, Just because I can DOT up every target i see and then go and help where i am needed.
