Giving up on pvp...Follow

#1 Apr 17 2007 at 1:32 AM Rating: Decent
So I tried going holy to help the team win, but as always alliance is to stupid to use a plate wearing healer to help them get the flag. The teams first thought was : uhhh more HKS for me.
So I gave that up pretty quickly thinking whats the use ? Then I tried protection thinking I could grab attention from the hordies by being hard to kill, but still no luck.
So im back to retribution not giving a fu.. about the team as nobody else does.
Does this change at 70 ? or have I just been unlucky with some crappy teams ?

Alliance pugs are awful. Even trying to heal at outdoor PVP a lot of people wont return the favour, not realising that by putting a little effort into keeping your hide intact means that they too keep going that bit longer. Your better of trying to get a few people together before going in and going over a few points. I know that healing not only can turn a battle for the flag but puts you on the opp factions hit list(whis is kind of an honour i suppose). Too many glory hounds and not enough people willing to work toward the bigger picture. I see we win AV when people actually stay and guard the captured graveyards. Arathi Basin when instead of holding points or going turtle, people are willing stay as a token force to draw the horde in whilst others flank a newly took horde node.

Just trying to say that not enough alliance are willing to put the team ahead of themselves, random strangers at least. As for lvl70 BG's i couldnt say as i have been a bit busy to do them.

ok :)
Well I guess ill hurry to 70 and see if anything changes there.

It varies at lvl 70. Sometimes you get a competent team and sometimes you get a God-awful team. It really just depends when you play them, although competent teams are much more in evidence at 70 than I had seen previously.

I am still giving up on PvP however, because although my gear is not that bad I get consistently beat down. For some reason it seems that paladins are the target as repeatedly I am the one picked out from a group, unless there's more than one paladin where you might get lucky. Maybe they see sword and board and think Holy, I dunno.

It's a good idea to stay waaaay back and heal, if that's what you wanna do. Myself, I do suicide runs into the enemy with Avenger's Shield and Consecration spam. Hammer of wrath if necessary. Much more fun <3

It might be because I"m a Blood Elf Holy Paladin but we've learned after getting slapped around over the years the importance of having a Holy Pally throwing out heals and buffs but that might just be us. And besides, who doesn't like getting a 2k crit Holy shock :D

Yeah, PUGging MC or Ony was never that much fun either.

Seriously, they're a lot the same. The best way to play BG's is to play with a good team, preferably one you've played with before. They'll be thrilled to be getting your heals, and you'll be thrilled when that rogue that just sapped you turns into a sheep (or just blows up). When you go into a PuG BG, everybody is usually out for themselves. The ones that weren't gave up PuGging, like you seem to be, after a very short time.

Be glad you're not a BE pally. I've seen people go for them just because of their race and class, which technically is racism, but I think people can be forgiven in this instance :P

Why would you be a Blood Elf (race) Pally (class) for any other reason than their race or class? O_o That's what they are, a combination of a race and a class...

Oh, and it's not like you can roll Pallies of multiple races when you're Horde. :P

I think you misread...

People will go out of there way and single out BE pallies to kill just because they are the FotM.

Personally I go out of my way to kill any BE other than pallies because I dont like losing.

Aaaah, yes, indeed I misunderstood.

And to be honest, when I was on my Alliance Druid I would favor killing Blood Elves... but then again it's like 95% of the Horde in the lower levels are Blood Elves anyway.

And yeah, they may be FotM indeed. It makes me QQ a lot when I see so many pretend-Pallies...

Oh well, level 50 now. Soon there won't be too many idiots running around. *crosses fingers*

I would agree with you... except lately that hasn't been the case.

I used to go to BG's only occasionally, due to the reason you stated.

Now, that I'm level 69 at the moment, I find myself being the hardest to take out.

Whether you win or not depends on your group, but you can still make an enjoyable time out of watching 3 or 4 horde trying to take you out. It is even more fun when they concentrate on you, leave the flag carrier alone, or support arrives and everyone else dies.

Anyway, yes it does change at 69-70. I have been having so much fun lately doing PVP whereas before I couldn't think about it.

I am holy spec. With divine favor (with illumination), holy shock and bubbles, I find our class very worthwhile in BG's.

I agree that holy spec is enjoyable in pvp, if your team back you up.
If they understand that by keeping you alive, they live longer too.
But in my career of pvp that has never been the case, to many glory hounds or simply put idiots.
Guess ill go with premades at 70.

PUGs in general, both BG and intances, are terrible. There are those rare times when you get a group together that click and flow, but on average it's like a bunch of monkeys in clown shoes stumbling all over the place. But if you can get into a decent guild, it will no doubt makes BGs more enjoyable. I did a lot of BG PUGs before joining my current guild and the difference is night and day. We're more interested in raiding, but weekends and off nights we'll PvP. Point is, you get to know the other members fairly well and what each person can do, so even if you only have a few memebers from the guild in the BG with you, a lot of the idiocy disappears.

True, paladin is the hardest class to defeat quickly. But thats not what the others are saying. A general strategy is to go after the healers first. Well since your there in your shiny armor and false bravado, the little hordies go "Hmmmmmm... a great healer with with high armor and high health. Yea, you gotta go down buddy." Cause I'm tellin ya man, when you got 10 locks, mages, and hunters staring you down and ready to burst the **** out of you in the matter of seconds, you best be as holy as Jesus or your SCREWED.

QFT. BE's are the one thing tellin me that Blizz prefers Alliance over Horde. Poor hordies have their image tainted with these species, where you cant even tell if its a man or woman.

(I am not trying to offend any gay people. Unless your transfestite. WTF I dont even know how to spell that...)

Lol... Are you kidding me? The not-so-subtle politically uncorrect remarks aside, Blizzard seems to favor the Horde over the Alliance in... pretty much every conceivable way. Just look a the bloody racials. Horde's are better across the board. The Alliance has maybe two racials (Gift of the Naaru and Escape Artist) worth noting from all five races combined.

I've gotta say... Blizzard likes Horde more than Alliance, easy. The big reason for Draeni shammys and BE pally's is because people complained. A lot.

I've got proof, though. Play through WC3 until the end, FT or normal, and there's a song at the end.

    Power of the Horde
.
There is no
    Power of the Alliance
song. Blatant favoritism.

i love these statements. i also like:
"alliance ALWAYS loses" and
"its so hard to find a good group" and
"can never find a tank or healer"

the best part, its always the same people saying this. but alas, the world is wrong...not you.

when i play my pally: "the alliance SOMETIMES loses" "i almost ALWAYS find a good group" and "i can tank AND/OR heal"

great point. gotta realize, you're playing with a team. adapt to the team, dont expect a whole team to adapt to you.

ps. this is not an attack at CobraMisfit, just some snips. thx
