SoJ & Sotc in InstancesFollow

Hello everybody.

I just wanted to point out something that has been happening when I have been running instances with other Palidins. Now this may be just me, or the play style I use, and I cannot understand other Pally’s play style but it’s a thought anyway.

I have been running Scarlet Mon. a lot lately to get my pally to lvl 40, now I have ran this quite a few time with 2 or more pally’s. It was great, we would just rip through the Cathedral like it was nothing, but there are some improvements, like.

Every enemy I come up to I like to Judge them with SotC, but with more then 2 pally’s I would try to organize which seals who will use. In SM, in my eyes it should be important to cast SoJ, so the mobs do not run away.

Now every pally should have this Seal, yet no one uses it in a grp w/ pallys, why? You have enough pally to increase the holy damage w/ SotC, and still use SoJ. Yet when I play, its either the pally forget and don’t use SoJ, or the Pally’s are not using any at all, Just using SoR for damage output. Last night I played with 3 other pallys, and I had to stand back and cast SoJ, on every single mob, which kept me from actually fighting, even though I was one of the biggest damage dealers in the grp.

Any input would be great. Thanks

Been there, done that, got the Plated T-Shirt.

That's the price of PUGs.

My last ZF run joined me (prot-heavy with a touch of Retri) with another pallie who claimed he just respecced to holy.

He stood in melee range, with a 2H, wrestling for aggro with me on every pull, and eventually went "I don't really like healing".

I thought I'm a pallie and pallies adapt, so the Holy Retributor ended up tanking and I healed the group.

This is in reaction to your point about being the prime damage dealer in your SM group. So you where with 2 other subpar pallies, it happens. However, sacrifying your spot on the DPS meter for a smoother run and doing what is most useful to the group is probably, in my humble opinion, the cornerstone of the paladin spirit, regardless of your spec. If nobody wiped because you CCed runners, you did your job, and a fine job that was.

It is the same thing when running with less locks than mages in any setting. If they cast Curse of Shadows before Curse of Elements, you know you're running with an ego-tripping idiot who is playing DamageMeters instead of running an instance.

Yep, don't bother trying to educate PUG's. When doing guild runs, do tell them and if they don't listen tell your GM so they /slap them or something. (And if your GM is the one not listening just quit that stupid guild -_-)

But yeah, there are lots of benefices in using different seals. When I heal a PUG with a lot of melee classes, I usually put a JoL on the mob they're fighting. It makes healing that much easier especially if there's a Rogue who draws aggro from time to time.

Just... don't expect everyone to play intelligently. Especially in the early levels.

Yes, I think it's really odd that nobody seems to realize runners are a problem in instances. Almost everybody has a way to handle them, and I can't count the number of times I've mentioned in party chat after a wipe that we got too much aggro from runners, and the warlock says "I should keep Curse of Recklessness on them" and the pally says "Oh, I should keep a judgement of justice on them" and the warrior says "Oh, I should keep the hamstrung" and the rogue says "oh, I should use my crippling poison" and the hunter says "I should save my concussive shot" and the mage says "I should keep them frostbolted". Sometimes you just have to say something to make people aware of the situation - too little analysis goes into too many PuG instances, it's just run and gun and if you wipe a couple of times, you think you need a different group.
