Well, I've decided to try my hand at a mage (hoping to roll fire). I've always had a love of the nuker classes, and now I get to have some much needed play with one.
Rolling horde as per usual so I have my choice of racial tributes, but I can't see which would benifit a mage the most.
AoE silence + magic resists: (Blood Elf)
Yeah, the mana tap is next to useless and the mana return from a fully charged arcane torrent is maybe enough for half a spell, but the extra spell interrupt would definitly be useful with the 30sec recast on counterspell, as well as it's ability to effect multiple targets. +5 to all resists doesn't hurt either.
WotF and Cannibilize: (Foresaken)
WotF is definitly a useful ability, particulary for PvP and instances. Between it and blink there isn't much that would be able to slow me down. And Cannibilize is already a proven useful feature for if you're stuck in combat, aren't able to use bandages, and need health ASAP.
Regeneration and Berserking: (Troll)
+10% health regen in battle doesn't seem like much. I know it's useful early on but in outlands when next to none of your gear has spirit on it, it might not do so well. Plus from what I understand mage fight don't last very long. But then there's berserking, but I don't know how useful this ability would be, considering it depends on how badly you're hurt. to get the full benifit, I would have to be hurt to the point where I'm not sure I'd have the 10 seconds. (also the 3 min cooldown on it is kind of a bust)
I'm hoping there are a few mages out there who played the races and would be able to give me a little imput on which abilities would be more useful to a mage. Like I've mentioned, I'm not familiar with the mage's playstyle just yet, so I need to turn to the more experienced few.
