Last but not least, ice mages seem to have all gotten adapted to the ice block change. Water elemental bugs are completely fixed. Killing it during ice block, even for a combat rogue with AR-up is not easy at all as it now always starts with full health/mana. Pet will always DPS you for the entire duration as well and never seem to bug out like it does on live. Frostbite nerf isn’t all that big of a deal as mages either put points into impact which procs much more than frostbite (it has a chance to proc everytime you hit him, while frostbite only procs on initial snare) or simply got better on their nova timings. Either way, against full PVP geared WE mages, this is at best a 50-50 match-up. PVP trinket / Escape Artist now reliably removes the cripple poison every time, and once again, the mage only really has to outlast your sprint(s). Chad is incredible at this match-up and will be a formidable opponent for any rogue. Again, if you think you can beat him in a series, please let me know.

Of course, this is only in a 1v1 context, but in general it is good to hear that the changes are not too game breaking for (deep) Frost mages.

Speccing into Impact and using Molten Armor to proc it is an interesting alternative to Frostbite. The problem of course is that it doesn't allow you to proc Shatter. And it's rather odd to be forced into speccing 5 points into Fire; it's just not very elegant talent-wise.

agree, especially if you spec for imp. fire blast and incineration. I have converted myself to play a scorch bot, allowed me to get enough hits in which tend to make my fireblast damage sweet (crits in the range of 1.2k to 1.4k). I need to get more spellpower (sitting on 400++).

I would say the shortcast, instant spells setup for PvP is a better one since you are not relying on PoM (which I would steal from someone if I see it being cast). I am considering shaving some points from the current talents I have to fire-power and critical mass. At least I stil have shatter to play with.

If you don't cast POM + Pyro/Sheep/Flamestrike/<insert favorite non-instant spell here> within .05 seconds because of a macro, you lose.

So far as spell stealing in PvP... I found it hillarious that another mage in WSG kept stealing my molten armor... mmm, costs me 630 mana, and spellsteal costs 29% of base mana... keep on-a-stealing!

Now, AP, I could see wanting to steal that, but POM should never just be sitting on a mage.

well I did do that once before not saying it happens a lot, I rather hit a priest with spell steal (wish the mechanic would give me a higher chance to grab his PW:S instead of inner fire or fort). There are ppl who do not use macros but that is a nice thing to know. Does PoM invoke GCD?

Nope, or your couldn't put it in a macro followed by another spell. Arcane Power likewise does not trigger the GCD.
