Totems to use while leveling?Follow

Just like the title says, what are the most efficent totems to use while grinding. IE, stoneskin from earth, healing / mana from water, which fire totem or air totem. I had a shaman on a pvp server a long time ago but was thinking about starting a new one.

If you have any thoughts on efficent totems to use while questing grinding, please share them. Specifically for the 30-50 range or so due to that being where I will pick up. Thanks

Quite frankly, everyone is going to have a different opinion on this one. My personal choices are:

Searing totem, mana spring, and stoneskin. From air, I will use grounding totem as needed.

Generally if Im only fighting one mob, i will only put down the mana spring, If i get adds i drop the stoneclaw if I might have problems. If i dont think it will be too bad, I drop the stoneskin.

Thanks, was looking for maily efficency, if stoneskin did enough dmg mitigation to be worth it.

Also, isnt there a macro command along the lines of castsequence? could that be used with

/castsequence manaspring, stoneskin, searing, endsequence.

Something like that where you push one button and it will summon them back to back, or each time you press it it summons the next one in line till it gets to the end? so pressing one button 4 times to summon those totems. I know each situation calls for different totems but in a grinding mode usually its the same one after the other. Just a thought, thanks.

The most efficient way to grind is without totems, unless you plan to pull more than 1 mob at a time or can pull several to one spot. I just save them for "oh crap" moments.

There's some truth to this. The obvious weakness with totems are that they aren't mobile. Usually what happens when grinding is that your moving from one mob to the other, thus either your picking up your totem's (with a 25% refund, which in the long haul...end's up costing you more MP), or ur just not going to bother dropping them down anyhow.

THe only way totem are effective for grinding is IF you can setup a "base" of totems (typically the mana, stoneskin, GoA/WoA, Searing, etc), and just pull mobs back to your tot's. Now this doesn't always work out like that, since some area's don't really have a "safe spot" for you to setup anyhow.

Regardless of spec, u'll probablybe dropping mana (sometimes Healing if Enh), WoA(GoA if Enh), and Stoneskin (Strength if Enh maybe), and perhaps a searing. I usually drop a searing only if I'm low on MP (not enough to shock), and need some "cheap" DoT type dmg to get me thru, or if I'm fighting something thats immune to nature dmg.

If I'm moving around more, or need to be more mobile, I might only drop mana down, and perhaps WoA(GoA). Typically u have to stand still for about 3 ticks for a mana tot to have given you back the amount it cost for you to put it down, so obviously if your not going to be staying still for that long, its not worth putting down.
