sword and dagger?Follow

I'm new to building a rogue and have looked all through the forums at different builds and such. I will PVP some but am looking to lvl quickly, instance, and grind fast which sources lead me to speccing combat swords. But I also see combat daggers are extremely good with their high crits. Is going dagger and sword usefull or is it stronger to stay wqith 2 of the same?

also, noob question: whats the difference between ur offhand and mainhand, is one more effective? Im guessing ur main hand would be, but someone just explain to me the hand mystery.. heh

Starting of lvling it makes difference if you mix and match. Now when your deep in the Combat tree and decided to go dagger or sword spec (only pick one or the other) then you generaly want to make both hands the same (exceptions to all rules exisit). As far as the MH OH thing goes the main hand, misses less and hits harders. Im not exactly sure but i beleve the numbers are like this: 5% miss rate + 100% dmg with main hand : 10% miss rate + 50% dmg with off hand. Generaly you want your off hand to be as quick as possiable because its primary dmg is going to be from poisons (quicker = more proc a fight) your off hand you want a high dmg range (the 75 -105 DMG NOT the 35.5 DPS part) which in generaly the 2.5ish wpns (if you got sword hemo then you want a 2.7 + wpn)

I believe it is a flat 24% miss rate for either hand's auto-attack. Only the instant attacks for the mainhand have a 5% miss rate.
The other reason for a fast offhand is for spellcast interruption in pvp.
