so my lockpicking is at 170... i decided to start powerleveling it despite my better judgement... I went to Zanzil's Tower... it was grey... pickpocketed worn junkboxes... grey... tried sturdy... red... footlockers in Zoram'gar... grey...the only thing i can think of is Strong iron lockboxes, but i can't find any at all so i'm not gunna spend hours looking for them... if anyone know WTF i can do... let me know.
Strong Iron Lockboxes are your best bet until you can hit 175, where Sturdy Lockboxes will turn orange, as will Steel Lockboxes. It's a *****, I know. I was between 150-175 for like 3 weeks. :P

Rogue trainer can tell you where you can go to level your lockpicking skill.
The problem with neglecting lockpicking is that you have to go back to lesser mobs to PP the junkboxes needed for your LP level.
It's too late for the OP, but first advice is don't neglect it. Every level or two, make a concious effort to PP until you get enough boxes to max your LP skill.
Also keep an eye out for locked doors/chests.
Scarlet Monastery has two doors that will give skill-ups for quite a stretch, although you need patience for their resets.
Blackrock Depths has 3 doors that will give skillups without encountering a single enemy, and a 4th if you have sufficient stealth. They also reset on instance reset. That means you can gain 15-20 skillup points in less than an hour, before having to wait for the instance reset CD. I got skillups on these doors all the way to 300.
The service entrance of Stratholme has a gate that is orange even at lvl 300 LP
Ramparts has a chest early in the instance that is still red at 280 LP

at 170 you're at the inbetween period. you might want the keep as stated, or perhaps the desolace naga area. once you reach 175, go pickpocket some 40+ mobs for the boxes you were talking about. they start off at orange as soon as you reach 175. I ran stealth runs in zu farrak and the outside area when I hit 175. got a ton of gems, pots and poison mats + blinding powder that I sold for a decent profit.
After 175, steal the boxes from Harpies in Feralas and then Blood Elf Reclaimers in Azshara.
The back door entrance in Gnomer is also a decent way to get to 175. I did the door just outside the entrance and the first door you come to inside for 165-175 after worn boxes stopped being worth the effort.
You can find footlockers just off the coast at Saratheis (sp?) Strand in Desolace. They will be on the ocean floor. I got my lockpicking up to 180 there.
At 175 you can start opening Sturdy Lockboxes. I have been pickpocketing them off of the Ogres in Feralas.

Sorry to thread-gank here, but with my Lockpicking at 152/220, is there anywhere I could go, other than asking the Rogue trainers, who just refer to random Footlockers?
You'll want to be maxed out when you reach outlands, the first instance you encounter (ramps) has a locked chest(300 skill required, I think), and most others will too.
