Spell Damage Bonus w/o sacrificing Spell Crit. Bonus?Follow

#1 Apr 22 2007 at 10:58 PM Rating: Decent
Hi all....I was wondering if anyone can give any tips on how to increase my Spell Damage Bonus via Armor, Trinkets or Weapons/Off-hands without sacrificing my Spell Crit. Bonus too much.....

I am a 70 Gnome Lock yet my Spell Damage is only 385 (Laughably Low) yet my Spell Crit % is at 18.89%. So I get alot of crits, but they only amount to 2000-3500 depending upon what is used. I am a Destruct Spec'd with 5 Aff 5 Dem and 49 Dest....

Will I have to guve up Crit % for + Spell Damage and will the trade be worth the effort........

Any input pos or neg will be appreciated

Thanks in advance... :)

if you do the right non-heroic and heroic instances you can find plenty of replacement gear that'll not only increase your damage but also increase your crit, my crit rate has recently been dropping a bit (although fully raid buffed it's back up to 20% global, 25% destruction) but i've got almost 800+damage before any buffs, most of my gear isn't from raids it's primarily from heroic instances or crafted.

basically, get yourself the atlasloot mod and start checking up on where you need to go to get your new gear :)

to help a little bit, get yourself some Superior Wizard Oil and Elixir of Major Shadow Power.

Can these two things stack? I just found out about elixir of shadow power due to my epic mount quest so never tried it yet.

They all stack.
You can add adepts elixir too for 24 spell damage and 24 crit, plus blackened basilisk (food) to get 23 spell damage more for 30 minutes.

A destruction Warlock with 18 % Crit? That's your problem, in my opinion.

I'm Level 62, & I'm at 25%... & I haven't even got a hold of a weapon with + crit yet.

You can get 23% crit rate & 2-300 dmg bonus with Just Level 60 Outlands 'Invoker' Gear. Not including a weapon ( never seen an invoker staff in the AH ;o(

Add 'Blasting' to gloves for another Percent. & Illidans ( spelling? ) trinket from the Honor hold quest for another + 16 Crit & your at 25%

Remember, that's 25% , Plus 5% from devestation, & 3% from Backlash.

33% total. So if you Immolate, Conflagrate, & Shadowburn. Odds say you'll crit Once... Don't be suprised when you triple-crit, though.

I started with invoker gear, & that's a good place to start, but look up quests in BC, you'll find you can find alot of easily quested gear that has equal + crit, but also has Stamina / Int/ Spell dmg...

yeah lvl 63 lock here just changed from demon to destruc to just to testi out, with fel armour on i have 359 bonus dmg and 17.5% crit. When i was demon i had around 450 bonus dmg and 11% crit so thts a simple spec comparrison. Obviously at your level i believe destrction is best, intellect shud also boost both of these stats, nto sure by how much though.

one problem with going heavy crit is that you loose out on the damage, granted you'll crit more, but your crits (and especially your hits) will not be impressive or that threatening to most in pvp (who are currently going on heavy stamina and resiliance gear) and in pve the dps will be poor while your threat generation will be high.
keeping to around a 20% crit (25% including devestation which doesn't show up on the character screen) will help keep your threat at an acceptable level while also still allowing you to have decent +damage (fully raid buffed, not including pots other than an adept elixir i hit that % but have around 900+damage including felarmour and most my gear is from 5mans, both heroic and non heroic).

if you still want to increase your crit more, i'd say that a base of 25% crit rate is achievable with still over 500 +damage if you equip, enchant and socket yourself right
