So I've heard that this is not good for PvEFollow

Hi,

This is a question about my first character I've ever made. I'm a level 54 NE Rogue, and since I came to the game totally fresh, I built my talents as you can see in the link.

http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-talents.xml?r=Hydraxis&n=Elfchord

Apparently, this is not a good PvE build. I've had fun with it and I find that the kills are coming fast. As well, I haven't been refused on any instance runs because I'm not an assassination rogue, which is apparently a common occurence.

I wanted to go subtlety because quite simply, shadowstep seems very powerful (and fun). However, it seems that mutilate is much preferred. Should I unlearn my talents and relearn them in assassination.

Oh and by the way, I want to stay with daggers. Apparently going combat is faster, but I am not as interested in grinding for hours -- I like doing quests and the like, the whole experience if you will.

Err, and if you think the gear I have is crappy, tell me nicely lol.

While "crappy" is not the word I'd use, it's not a well put together build; you've got points in places you don't really need them, and important talents with only a point or two in them.

If you really want to continue PvEing with daggers and Subtlety, my personal preference is a Hemo Stun lock build. It's very safe and efficient in that a stun locked mob can't hit you, and anything that can't hit you can't hurt you, and Hemo has a lower Energy cost than Improved Sinister Strike (35 vs 40). It's also ideal for PvP when the need arises. A side benefit is that Hemo is NOT dependant on daggers...it can be used with any weapon a rogue can equip, so if you happen to have some remarkable fist weapon, mace or sword drop, you can scoop it up and use it at least until you find a better dagger.

A fairly typical example of such is a build is mine: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fhe0oxZZxzeoMGRsxst

I DO have Shadowstep, which is generally NOT a stunlock talent, but when I hit 70 I found I had the extra point, and I like the extra mobility that Shadowstep gives me.

If Ambush is really your thing (it was mine for a long time), try something more like this: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fhxcoxZMZE0ecMMocxot

There's one point left unassigned in that build that you can place according to personal preference. The talent "Dirty Tricks" coming in the next patch that replaces Improved Sap is a solid possibility.

This is a very fun build to play; one that I used for a long time. Late game (65+), however, it fades in effectiveness due to the fact that many mobs and certainly most players (if you PvP) will have much more life than you're going to be able to Ambush them for, and Sinister Strikes & Eviscerates with a dagger are often not all that impressive. This build's strength, at least prior to TBC was that a good crit Ambush would reduce a target to below half health, or out-right kill them. Now that we have Mages running around with 8000 life, pumping a 2000-3000 point Ambush into their rumps doesn't have quite the effect that it used to. =(
