is Crystalforged War Axe a decent weapon to put savagery on? or you could find a better one fairly easy?

I think it is the best world drop that exists. An "easy" upgrade would be Sonic Spear (35 agi, 30 stam, 62 AP, 24 hit) dropped by Murmur in Shadow Labs, depending on how much you instance. Sonic is arguably the best until way end game raiding or the arena epic axe reward.
Some people prefer the Hellforged Halberd/Blackened Spear to Crystalforged, which is a rep reward from Honor Hold/Thrallmar at revered (26 agi, 92 AP, and 19 hit). Depends on whether you need more stam or more Agi/AP to round out your build for your play style between the two. Sonic beats them both, in my opinion. All three are rare (blue) and worthy of savagery.

TBH, unless you're already at 30%+ crit, you'll want +35 Agi on your 2h weapons. 35 AP (39-ish with MMM) isn't worth giving up .88% crit.

Not many people have the 35 agi enchant, though, unfortunately. I don't know of anyone on Anetheron (rrrrrrr) so we've been stuck with savagery.
To the OP: the CFWA is one of the best PVP weapons in game. It has a HUGE amount of stam on it, so hunters and warriors ALWAYS have this bugger. I got the sonic spear as well, so I use the SS for raiding, and the CFWA for PVP (+crit is good, but if you have less than max hit rating, +hit is just as good, and draws less aggro).

Crystalforged War Axe can be purchased for 60-80 on Eldre Thalas. Valanos goes for 150-200, but the prices are trending down on both.
looks like i'm stuck at an overprized server...
Just to play around with it over the weekend I bought the CFWA for 60 g and about a month ago i bought the Valanos bow for about 100 g.
this thread makes me feel down...

Valano's Longbow on Stormrage costs 60-120g depending on what day fo the week, higher cost on weekends, during the week doesn't seem like they sell very good :P

FYI: The guild I am currently in (left the original one) is a social guild that invites everybody, want's to raid, but nobody knows how to play their toon...
Pretty bad when Azlirene and Myself do 80% of the party damage combined, If we are in seperate groups, we each do 60% damage... Guild Runs anyways
PuG's are much more benificial to us right now :P

i'd say no to that, i have left such a guild not to long ago.
got invited by my current guild after a sethekk halls run (all but me at lvl 70 and from my current guild), i said (as a joke) need any more hunters? and got a whisper next day if i wanted to join, guess i made a good impression =P
though i have to admit: i learn new things daily, and keep discovering more things i am doing wrong, so you wont hear me saying i am a great player.
as it is now i place myself above average but still far from great.
and about the axe.... guess i'll just do some more shadow labs runs to get a sonic spear ;)
(and help enchanters grind for the +35 agi enchant...)

I bought CWA for 50g and Valanos for 100g. One good thing about Malygos I suppose. Can't imagine 300-400g for it.
I've never seen a hunter hater on my server yet! Of course I have met them on furoms, but oh well...
While we're on the subject, is Valano's Longbow good for PvP? I know, newb question, but I don't see what is so good about it and it's being praised =P. If not, can someone point me out to a bow that is as easy as Valano's Longbow to aquire and will get me started for PvP untill I get a better one? lol, I asked the newbiest question ever!

Valanos is a very decent bow, and the eassiest to aquire for that quality.
and it will do good in PvP, just slap a nethercleft leg armor on your legs, and stack up on more stamina.
(the hippy axe is very very good for PvP, due to its +50 stamina...)

The axe is good for PvP until you can get the GM/HWL's Painsaw, which you'd then use until the Gladiator's Decapitator.
i forgot to mention that i do both pvp and instances. So yes i think i will buy this axe and then farm for sonic spear. I just hope it's quite cheap on Kilrogg AH.
And also, should i get valanos longbow or keep to Hernet's elekk Gun and then get Emberhawk Crossbow?

there is a crystalforge axe on AH for 110 buyout, should i buy it or wait for a cheaper one? i can't use it yet, i just dinged 68 last night.
Am I missing something about Sonic Spear? I just got mine today and after doing some comparing, I'm not sure why it is so popular as compared with the other options..

Crystalforged War Axe: 1.22% crit, 80AP, 500HP
Sonic Spear: 0.875% crit, 97AP, 300HP,1.51% hit
Blackened Spear: 0.65% crit, 118AP, 1.2% hit
Terokk's Quill: 1.35% crit, 54AP, 330HP

And if so, is it then worth it to give up a further .21% crit and .3% hit for a further 19AP?
I see the praises of Sonic Spear sung a lot on Hunter forums, but I'm failing to see why it is so much better than CFWA, let alone the other options.. Is it due to cost? I guess I have the benefit of CFWA having cost me only 50 gold, but having just got my Sonic Spear, I think I'll find myself wearing the Axe in both PvP and PvE anyway.. am I missing something?

+hit is somewhat harder to et and really needed for raiding.
You're joking about +hit being hard to get, right?
When Hunters are taking Rogue gear for PvE, they should be able to get 200+ hit no problem, like most Rogues are.

i didnt say it was hard, just harder then +crit or +ap.
