In an effort to keep my Druid fresh to me, I moved to a balance/resto spec (I have been my guild's main tank for over a year). I'd been stockpiling decent equipment, though the cost ended up being very high anyway, getting some new enchants and a few new pieces of gear.
Soloing is really fun.. on single mobs I can kill them before they get to me (with help of roots) and with multiple pulls I am using roots, cyclone, etc to nice effect.
But I was surprised how hard instancing has been! Rather than being a stressful but single role type (tank) I have lots of responsibilities. In order to prove (to myself at least) that I can be a viable DPS form with moonkin, I did DPS at the expense of all else.. and finished tops in dam meter every time I've gone in.
The problem is, there are other things I need to be doing... because I AM so versatile, the team needs me to also backup heal, battle rez (missed a big one last night :( ), jump in for melee, protect and heal the healer, innervate, etc... after a year plus of tanking, it requires a very different approach to instances and I'm still having trouble getting off my one track mind (DPS).
I was hashing this out with one of hte best balance druids I know, and he was like "oh gawd, yes, doing instances with a balance druid is always so hectic, there's just a million things to do and hard to do it all."
What a surprise.. and and a learning experience.
