You say that now but we both know you'll probably do something lame at most because you forgot to make a big scene out of it.

Oh no, they bring the average age up.

The rest of the crowd is usually quite young. It's a weird crowd.

No, just a weird area. It used to be pretty shady, but then country music and senior specials chased off a lot of that. The end result was a really diverse bar.

So you have to spend your evenings listening to country music?

Truly a fate worse than death.

I dunno, I can easily spend an evening listening to Johnny Cash. Add some singer/songwriters, Americana and Skynyrd for variety or go the way of Rockabilly if it's that kind of area. Add lots of live music and you've got a cool place.

Modern country is about as similar to Cash as modern Rock is to, say, Elvis.

And both of them had a huge range of genres in their music, blues and gospel.

Blues bars are pretty awesome. Country bars are not.

Something lame is still technically something. Smiley: schooled

Johnny Cash is cross genre, pretty disingenuous to label him as just country. Blues, Gospel, Rock, Pop, he did it all in his time.

I guess it depends on how redneck the bar is.

Mostly about whether or not there's a moratorium on music released in the past 30 years, at least.

...Maz?

Where is he? Is it Brewfest in Daneland already?

And Aeth, I tried the warm beer as per your recommendation. It did seem a bit more flavorful, but in the end it still was warm fekking beer. I guess I'm just a troglodyte.

Implying he isn't always drunk at school anyways.

Happy Birthday when you do see this, Maz.

Thanks, guys.

Was in France, without interwebs, so I've been cut off for the last two weeks or so.

Yeah, that wouldn't generally be considered country here, but more firmly in the rock territory.

Granted, genres don't really have hard definitions, but only hipsters would classify that as anything other than rock/blues.

Went to a place called Valmorel, one of the many ski resort "villages" in the Alps.

It's some 70 kilometers from Mont Blanc (could see the top of it from our terrace) and is close to Les 3 Vallées (3 Valleys). Spent a good 10 days hiking the mountains, cooling off in the pool and drinking Pelforth Brune at various cafes. And I got to see Tour de France from a mountain top on my birthday. Good times.
