Hey guys. Just dinged 85 literally about an hour ago. I've been running dungeons mainly as SV for the great aoe up to this point. I saw the post from around January saying that SV is the way to go...is that still the case? If not, what is the best option? (Also, I'll mainly be running 5-mans right now to get my ilevel up.) Thanks.

Welcome to the club, now get in that long queue and begin the grind on those justice points and turn them in for t11 gear so you can do t12 content.

Honestly though I can't tell ya what to roll. Do what you like best, I've seen some beast (pun intended) BM's as a hunter, and I've seen some spot on MM hunters. Just roll with what ya know and love best.

Eh, just do whatever you're most comfortable with. MM is technically the best end game dps spec for hunters but it's really up to you. You could switch to MM and lose 2-3k dps because you won't be comfortable with it. BM is still viable too.

This.

I'm familiar with the SV rotation, I have my UI tuned so that it works for me, I know how to move during raid fights, I'm familiar with my utility abilities. Theoretically, an equivalently skilled MM hunter would be a few hundred DPS above me, but even if I was magically able to make an immediate switch so that I saw a target dummy DPS gain, I'd lose in all other aspects (heh) until I was up to speed on everything else beyond rotation.

And I doubt if I actually would see any improvement, personally. From what I've read of the MM playstyle, SV is a better fit for me.

Pick what works best for you. The three specs are more balanced now than at any point in history. That wasn't always good advice - there were times when you had to swap to the FOTM raid spec because the gap was too large. But not right now.

Awesome thanks for the replies. Sounds like they are all pretty close which is good, I just figured I would ask to see if there was one spec which was way ahead of the rest. Thanks again.

This video explains the DPS MM tree, rotation, etc... Seems pretty impressive to me, you may want to check it out:

Watched 20 seconds until I saw the spec and closed it. The spec is wrong so I figure I didn't need to watch any more.

I saw "video was uploaded on October 21, 2010" and didn't bother watching anything. That's during Cataclysm beta. So you can imagine how much of that is completely wrong and out of date.
