It seems like the very worst the Deadpool movie will be is good entertainment. And considering that isn't something you can say going into any of the other Fox Marvel movies...

So how's life for everyone? I'm getting my tonsils out early Nov. That'll be fun.

I'll be content as long as we don't get another Barakapool.

Life is life. Dealing with a kindergartner who now has outside influences is smidge terrifying. At least with getting your tonsils out you have a built in excuse for lots of sherbet and cookies.

Life is pretty good. Work is keeping me busy, but I still find time to be a total geek... which I suppose isn't that hard when my work consists of at least 50% science and tech.

People around me seem to be getting married and having kids, and I have no idea why. I know I've hit that age where I'm supposed to settle down with someone and consider doing my part to ensure the survival of the species, but I just don't feel like it yet. I'm way too fond of my private space, and I don't have much energy to do the whole dating thing right now. And honestly, when you're a surrogate father for 25 teenagers 6 hours every day, the thought of having one around 24/7 is kinda terrifying.

Hahaha, I get that. You're still super young, though, so no rush for you if you think you want a kid some day.

My brother just got married, and he and his wife are probably gonna pop out kids right away. Side note: that means I'm now the only single of the 4 kids. Permanent 7th wheel. Smiley: lol

The worst part about having kids is the realization that you can't spend 24/7 with them, and someone installs emotions into you. Like when you install iTunes or something onto your computer and you're not paying attention and suddenly your web browser has fifty new search bars and popups.

My daughter is now back home living with us again. With my granddaughter (2yo), who jabbers incessantly and insists on watching youtube vids of ducklings or Peppa Pig with me. My life is hell and I'm loving it!.

Also, I finally read all of the Star Wars books. I still haven't seen the last three movies and I don't seem to care to. And I found this blog post a while back about the Machete Order which is fascinating and I love it. (Ha! I just googled it for the url and I see Time did an article on it back in April.) I broke down and got myself a Kindle and my reading has increased exponentially, back to what it was 20 years ago before I got sick of reading all day for work and found no pleasure in reading for fun any longer.

I also re-read the LotR trilogy again, for the fifth or sixth time. I've lost count but that's over the course of 40 years so it's not that crazy. A couple of biographies (Supreme Court justices, Patton) and a book about the Battle of Midway. Now I'm hunting for something to read, and thinking seriously about re-reading some great books, like Catch-22 or Shogun maybe. I do like to re-read books that I like. Open to suggestions though.

Marvel has a Star Wars line. I'm not a particular fan of most of it, but the Darth Vader ones are amusing, if only for the psycho murder-droid sidekicks.

I'm not much of a baby guy. I don't mind them, but I'm not enthralled by their chubby little faces. I know I'm a bit of Negative Nancy, but do a CBA on having a kid, and you'll see that "but they're so cute" doesn't carry a whole lot of weight. I guess I need to find that one thing that completely tips the scale. What was it for you guys? What was it that made you look at all the sacrifices you'd make - forever - and go "Psh, worth it"?

Probably the knowledge that I had like 10% in making it had a lot to do with it. Maybe a biologically ingrained reaction from our ancestry to assure the survival of our species and personal clans/lineages.

Congratulations, since tickets seem to be sold out in ... all of America.

Oh, and cynyck ... the Mets are 3-0 against the Cubs in the NLCS heading into the World Series. Is ... is the world ending? The Mets and the Cubs anywhere near the WS has got to be a sign of the apocalypse.

The Mets were destined to win for two reasons. The Chicago Cubs have diehard fans. The Cubbies are cursed, they never get to the World Series, but their fans are always there for them. They had to lose, it wouldn't be a great story otherwise.

The Mets, on the other hand, a team I have followed since childhood because my dad was an old Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and all old Dodgers fans became Mets fans after The Great Betrayal, always win in July and August, and crash mightily at the end of September. They do this to remind their fans that they are nothing, and because they are nothing the Dodgers left them standing at the altar. They had to win, it wouldn't be a great set-up for another great disappointment otherwise.

The Royals and Blue Jays aren't exactly winning clubhouses either, maybe not to the degree the Mets and Cubs are. This year is a veritable parade of underdogs. I'm letting myself get hyped and possibly crushed by reality, thank you very much. Also, I get to go to bars for the games in a deal my wife thought she had the upperhand in.

I did enjoy the new SW trailer. It was a bit TOO skimpy with the details, but I think they struck a good tone with the nostalgia. It was there, but it wasn't coasting on it.

I like my trailers to be lacking details. Just show me the actors and their costumes, and a little of the premise and I'm a happy camper. Really, the new trend for horror movies to show what appears to be the exact same audience reacting to the movie got under my skin real quick.

I got painfully black out drunk because FOURTEEN "CAPITALIZED ASTERISKS" INNINGS WILL DO THAT TO YOU. God I hope tonight is only nine. I don't think I can take four more nights like that.
