It is that fast or faster. Pros - very vast video
Cons - you not only need to upgrade your video card, but also your system ram to the very expensive DDR2 and and your motherboard. THat's going to slow adoption, and most standard pci cards are going to take a while to phase out. It is also apperently a huge power hog. I just upgraded to a 600 watt, and the damn thing makes minimum specs for the card.
No direct experiance yet, I need to get someone to send me some "review hardware". upgrading the ram is going to be a pain, even if I sell off the 2.gb and existing motherboard i currently have. The processor should be a direct swap at least. i'm thinking realistically a 6 month timetable for upgrade. unless I win the lottery.
need to finish my new case buildup first. working on a full sleaving and soundproofing kit for a thermaltake damier. but I want to repaint the thing so I can ditch that chessboard pattern.
