Can not connect cause of college network, please help; ;Follow

I posted this earlier, but was told to post it here for better chance of help, so I apologize for posting in 2 sections. I am talking about FFXI by the way.


I just recently moved from home to college.. (VCU in Richmond VA) and now I can not connect to the game at all. I get to the char select screen and the game jsut never loads... I know this is a port problem, but I have no idea how to get those ports opened... our tech support people have all been jerks about it, and they dont have a proxy server I can use. Is it possible for me to get a proxy server some other way? Or does anyone have any ideas or know how I can get the game to work. My room mate and I are freaking out... Thanks for any help.

I am having the same problem. I don't know how to set up my connect or anything....this really sucks. Anyone that has had the problem and ended up getting it to work that has information how to do, It would be greatly appreciated.
