FFXI won't load upFollow

Today I've been unable to get past the Disclaimer screen on the play online menu. After I hit "play" it seems to go through the usual process but when Full screen mode enables, I lose full screen and am back to the play online screen.

It doesen't give me an error message, "lost full screen mode" or anything, it just simply appears as if I didn't hit anything at all. I've tried reinstalling both FFXI and playonline and nothing has improved. I've had the game since October 2003 and this has never happend before, infact I was playing FFXI earliar in the day. I'm baffled on what to do, can anyone help me out?
