Morning Tech People,

Recently my spyware infested computer was picked up from our local computer repair dealership and was working quite nicely. I was having some internet connection problems discussed in an earlier forum and I think I have that corrected.

However, my wife needed to borrow my monitor because her small business was setting up a new computer system so she disconnected the monitor and took it to work. No problem said "I" because I was salivating over her new Flat Screen 19" monitor and I knew she would let me "borrow" it over the weekend while their new system was being tested.

Got up Saturday morning and drove to office, picked up nice shiny new 19" LCD monitor, came home and hooked it up. Turned computer on and it proceeded to boot up, then it rebooted, and rebooted again. Hmmmmmm. Trying not to get to bothered by this!!!! Went to Friends house, picked up lowly 14" monitor thinking that maybe my Graphics card was to weak to support lovely 19" LCD orgasmic pleasure monitor. Same thing happened. Reboot, Reboot, etc....

Summary of events:

1.) Pick up newly deloused computer
2.) Bring home and hook up.
3.) Computer works fine but no internet.
4.) Wife borrows monitor
5.) I borrow her new LCD monitor 19"
6.) Computer now nevers gets to the blue microsoft xp screen and constantly reboots.
7.) Tried a different monitor "14 CRT" with same results.
8.) No keyboard button is stuck as far as I can tell.
9.) Bubspeed is now thinking of drinking heavily.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know that I can help much, but I doubt your monitor is the cause of the problem.

It seems more likely to me that your local computer repair dealership missed something.

Can you startup in safe mode, or can you not even get past the bios?

What OS do you have? Your computer reboots before starting it? Like in Windows, does your computer reboots constantly when Windows is loading? That happend to me once, each time Windows started loading, no matter if safemode or last configuration or anything, the thing would reboot after a blue screen. At first I could fix it by searching the hard disk for errors, which it found many. Then a week after that it happend again, and this time I couldn't search for errors, so I took it to repair and they said the Hard Drive was not working properly, and they had to replace it. Maybe that helps, although hope you have an easier problem.

My Computer boots up almost to the point where the blue window screen pops up and the Windows XP music starts playing. Right before that point the screen goes blank and the computer starts rebooting.

I just had like 1400 spyware programs taken off of it and after talking with the guy who fixed it, he mentioned that sometimes spyware changes files needed for Windows and when the spyware program is deleted, Windows crashes.

My computer was heavily screwed up and the techie thinks that the only way to use it again is to re-format everything.

Thats fine with me except it is an HP and was not sold with a copy of Windows so I will probably go out and get another one.

How do I start up in Safemode?

I get a brief few seconds when I can hit F1 for Bios(?) and F10 for a system recovery. Not sure if the F10 option works though. Will try tonight.

Hope this helps!

My parents buy their computers from HP and they always get a set of "Recovery Disc"s. These are basically just a copy of windows and any other software you bought with the system. That is probably what the F10 option is.

I thought at some point you said you were infected with several viruses. If you don't have anything to lose, you might as well start clean and try to keep it clean.

I will try the f8 "safe mode" option tonight.

Last night I attempted to hit F10 and use the System Recovery disk. The program looked like it was getting ready to work. A Dos-looking like progress bar appeared on the bottom of the screen . After a few seconds the screen went blank and the computer re-booted. Bummer. I thought I had something there. The Recovery CD was in the Disk Drive but nothing happened. I let it reboot a few times just to make sure it wasn't part of the recovery process. No Dice.

Anyway, I am seriously thinking of just buying a new computer at this point. I dont want to pay $70.00 an hour for someone who couldn't fix it the first time. Circuit City is offering 12 month 0% interest so I can buy a decent computer and pay it off in less time.

Those guys/girls/bastards who program these spyware thingies should be dragged out and shot at high noon. Then use their insurance money to buy computers for all the ones they have screwed up.

You should at least attempt a format and reinstallation of windows before you go out and spend more money on a new computer.

It may end up being a hardware problem in the end, but if it's in the software you can fix it for free.

I think it may be a Hard Disk Problem now. The only thing I can get into is the Bios. Evening during system recovery, I could not get anywhere and re-format the drive.
