ffxi graphic problemsFollow

its a rather odd series of problems i have been having with ffxi..

everything ran~ fine, then a few updates ago the clipping plane was messed up.. i have no pictures of this sadly, i think normally once you get to the edge of the clipping plane all the graphics fade out and become blurry yes? for some reason i could see right to the edge of the clipping plane and then nothing after that.. wasnt really a big problem just made everything in the distance look ugly..

so the other day i tried installing the latest forceware drivers for my geforce fx 5200 (sux card) .. and that fixed the issue with the clipping plane..

only to lead into an entirely new problem

whenever something appears ie. changing equipment that visually alters your appearance, you fade out and back in, upon fade in parts of me are not there.. likewise when other people appear this happens.. here is one picture of that taken in my mog house.. http://tinypic.com/ehlsm

that is of course not that big of a deal and i can still play but its rather annoying.. also i noticed that avatars do not appear entirely.. ex: http://tinypic.com/ehlsg http://tinypic.com/ehls3 http://tinypic.com/ehlra

i have no idea the cause of this, nor do i know how to fix this.. i have reinstalled ffxi.. removed old drivers, ran driver cleaning software, and reinstalled several different forceware driver versions and they all yield the same result.

any help would greatly be appreciated..

I'm having the same exact problem. The symptoms you mentioned happen to me too, but the problem is ESPECIALLY evident when veiwing summoned avatars. Check this out: http://www.voicenet.com/~dansnapp/fenrir.jpg. I use a laptop with an NVidia GeForce FX go5600. It's a VAIO and comes with a proprietary driver, but the NVidia-made one is MUCH faster... Only thing is, this glitch occurs.

Having the exact same problem with a GeForce Ti4200. I just updated the drivers a few minutes ago in the hopes it would help, but nothing.

After installing Half-Life 2 and updating my drivers I too had this problem (im using a GeForce FX 5200). Eventually I found a solution, simply visit goto the DriverDownload page and where it asks you to select what OS your using and what you want drivers for etc.. just select the approproate options and continue to the next page but instead of downloading the latest driver look for the link on the left that says "older drivers" or "driver database" or something. From there choose an older driver, I installed the driver from Feb.2004 and not only has FFXI been repaired but Half-Life 2 plays exactly the same ^^

Hope this helps.
