Occasionally when I start up my computer, after the mobo screen, it just stays black. The Windows XP loading screen never shows up so I have to hard restart.

Is this normal?

Hmm. Its only happened twice for the whole time I owned this compputer. Most of the time it starts up fine. However, most of the problems(or little things out of the ordinary) I have been experiencing (FFXI graphics card glitches, blinking screen while loading windows, longer shut down times, etc.) started after I had to reformat when my new computer got the Downloader.gk virus.

Do you think the reformat had anything to do with these "problems"?

I don't know anything about the downloader.gk virus, but sometimes if you manage to get a particularily nasty virus you may need to do a low level format. Granted, this is very rare, but i've seen it happen.
