DX9.0CFollow

OK, before I resort to installing Gates-ensteins monster (also known as SP2), can somebody point me in the right direction?

OK, so here is the story. I am running Win XP, with a 256 mb Nvidea g-force II video card. I had DX 9.0C installed, and everything was working beautifully. About a week ago, I went to log into EQII beta, and was informed that I needed DX 9.0C to play. Which meant that DX9.0C, which WAS installed and working, was simply no longer there.

so, I proceeded to re-download and install it. No such luck. I got a message saying that a necessary file was not signed, and therefore could not be installed.

So, I proceeded to head on over to the Driver Signing window, and set to ignore unsigned drivers. I then tried to re-install. Again, the same thing. It does not say WHICH file cannot be installed. I does not give me the option to ignore the unsigned driver, and install anyway. It just tells me that it will not install it, and then says dx9.0C installation failed.

I know the installation download is good, as I used it on another machine, and it worked beautifully.

HELP! What am I missing?

Thanks.

There is no such thing as a 256mb geforce 2 card. Are you sure it isn't a 5200, 5600, 5750, 5900, 6200 or 6800 card?

to figure out what is having the issue, go to start:run: dxdiag and run the system tests there. under the directx files section it should list any files it is having problems with.

XP home.

Hehe, it gets worse! I gave up and tried to install SP2, and even THAT would not install. Gave no reason, just told me the install failed. :(

Ummm, not sure, then. I'll have to check when I get home, and I'll let ya know about the vid card. SHould not be an issue with the card, as DX9.0C was there before.

I did run the dxdiag and it said everything was working correctly. But when I try to install 9.0C, it fails. DXdiag says I have 9.0 installed.

I think I need to do a reinstall of XP, but HP never sent the disk when I bought my machine...
