Game crashing with sounds on!Follow

Hi all!

I am having very much lag(video lag) if i keep my sounds on in WoW or in FFXI.

During WoW OB, my FPS was about 10-25 with sounds and all video options on low and 800x600 resoltuion, then taking sounds off gave me about 30 MORE FPS!! Making it to 50-60 when having all video options on high and resolution at 1024x768

When i was playing FF XI i also had incredibly bad lag before i realised to turn sounds off, it helped ALOT, though i can't say FPS wise cause i didn't know how to check FPS in FF XI.

I heard that it can be caused by my integrated sound card eating my processor's juice ?

System specs:
1500 mhz P4
512mb ram
Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb
Intel D845WN mobo with integrated sound card *sigh*
Windows ME

Try updating your sound drivers, see if that helps the problem at all. Also, cant you just buy a new soundcard? They're not all that expensive. Also, Win ME is perhaps the worst OS around. Even Win 95/98 is better than ME.

I might a new sound card, but i wanna know will some 20€~ sound card help, or do i need better one?

Price really isn't the determining factor. Post the type of card here and we can let you know. However, I think that ANY soundcard would be better than the integrated one you're using.

Oh my noobness.

So i went to device manager and tried to find those things, but i only did find that Creative SB Live! and USB universal Host Controller 2, but then i saw that, that USB controller is on my printer, so i can't disable it, either my sound card hehe.
Oh and i found this too "IRQ 9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus OK"
But i can't disable it cause theres no option for it and can't change settings cause it doesn't let me.

IRQ 9 ACPI IRQ -allocation PCI IRQ -ohjaukselle OK, is the thing i didn't find, i have yet to got to disable any of these :(

I changed the USB slot printer was, in so it isn't anymore in IRQ 9 and i disabled it, i think it is in 5 now(printer).

Do you mean Slot inside the computer or IRQ slot? it is integrated so i can't change its slot inside PC... so maybe you meant IRQ, but i don't know how to change IRQ...oh my noobness...and is it safe to

HL2 is now goign alot smoother(10-20 more fps) when i disabled my USB controller from IRQ 9 and took everything expect explorer from background programs, now i need to wait for WoW EU OB to start and test hows it going :)

So i'm going to buy a new sound card after christmas. I was wondering that when i buy new sound card and put it in and IF it goes to that same IRQ 9, which seems to make my games lag bad, can i change it?

So i went and bought new sound card, put it in my comp, installed drivers and such. I also checked that it is in IRQ 10 now, but no help :(
At least in CS: source, so i need to wait few days to get to test WoW(final beta) and if it still lags, oh man i have no more ideas left(expect new comp heh, but too expensive atm)

Any one got any ideas left?

PS. When i was putting new card in to comp, i saw that my old sound card wasn't integrated. I don't still think that affects this anyhow.

By doing some research i found out that i had integrated sound card, too. So i went to BIOS and it was disabled already, then i changed parallel port from "auto" to "disabled". This had no effect in lag :(

Maybe i need to try to live with lag heh

Now when i have played WoW, i think that soundcard did the trick. Now when i turn all sound options off it doesn't give more fps, instead it stays at 10-25 all the time and being in big groups of people(like AH) it lags like hell. So now its video lag. My friend with similar comp to mine is getting 50-70 fps so something HAS to be wrong with my comp... :(

Any suggestions?

I'm sorry that i didn't post this earlier but wow is now giving me good good fps(20-40, so i think new soundcard did its work.

And i think that was cause of huge rush into beta and noobie areas filled of people.

So there is no more problem about the lag(thanks to you!)

Thanks really for all your time you have used for this problem!

Now the problem that is left, is that there is no spell/skill sounds, but that can be also caused by my US client of WoW which i changed to EU using guides...
