EQ client crashes at login, any reason why?Follow

Greetings,
Every time i attempt to login to EQ my PC sounds an alerting beep followed by the freezing of my PC, most of the time. Other times it only crashes EQ. I have not had one successful login.

I do have DirectX 9.0c and i have updated my graphic drivers to version 66.93 on nvidia's site.
At one time i did get a message to update my drivers, which i did, and it no longer pops up.

I would appreciate any and all help, thank you.

My system specs are as followed:
-Sony Vaio Media Edition
-NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, 128 Mb
-P4 3.2 GHz, with hyper-threading
-512 Ram
-Dial-up connection
