Hello!

Well, I installed FFXI fine really, its just that I get a problem trieing to install the Rise of the Zilart expansion pack. At about 96% it says "Cannot find 69.dat" continuously... any ideas on what I should do? Is it possible for someone to send this file to me? Thank you gratefully.

Well, I just did a search for 69.dat in my FFXI directory, and it came back with 165 results. Yes, exactly 165 different files all named 69.dat, albeit in different directories. If you could somehow find out which one it is you need (does it tell you a directory as well as the file name?), then I could upload it to some webspace of mine for you (none of them are very large files).

However, what exactly do you plan to do with it if you manage to get it? Does the installation automatically quit after it gives you this message, or does it give you the option to locate the file manually? If the former, then I really don't see what good it will do to have the file on your hard drive. If the latter, then why not just make a "dummy" file (create or rename a file on your compter as 69.dat) and just point the installation to it? There's a good chance it won't check the file to see if it's the right one, and considering the vast amount of files the game uses, it probably won't cause you too much trouble while playing the game.

try this, make a folder on your computer named sometyhing like COP (so you can remember it). next insert the first CoP disk into your computer and look at the disk name, create a folder under the COP folder named the same and copy the entire disk into the folder. Then do the same for the second disk. when that is done run the setup again from the folder and see if it still gives you the error

Scratch that, I meant Data4.cab. Oops. Well anyway this is the error:

Error 1335. The cabinet file "Data4.cab" required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, a problem with the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

Options: Abort Retry Ignore

Any advice? It won't let me point to a file to install, and to the poster above me, I'm installing Zilart

Sorry for the double post but...

Bah. I've tried everything from extracting the files to my HD and trying to install from there to trying to copy em to another CD. All methods say data4.cab is corrupted. What do I do? I want to try to figure this out without buying another damn game, -_- ... because the other 3 CDs install fine, just not this one...

Please, please help. I NEED Zilart installed. Is there anyway I can make the installer TOTALLY ignore the file needed to be installed? If I just click Igore on the installer, though, it comes up with a fatal error.

YAY! I got it working!

What I did was, I took the CD over to my other computer hooked up to a network. I extracted Data4.cab to my Harddrive and proceeded to send it over to this computer, the one havent install problems. I then reinstalled with that data4.cab and it did the trick! Take note install from the harddrive. I believe there is something wrong with my CD Drive reading the disk. Oh well ,it's fixed! If you need help on this issue PM me or post here.
