A non-game question for all the techies out there. I stream alot of music from England (kiss100 and Radio1 mostly) because good trance/electronica just dones't exist on the radio out here.

Is there any freeware/shareware that you guys use that will allow me to save the streaming files or the output sounds to mp3? I really don't want to have to buy soundforge or the like.
Thanks!

Is this question breaking a law? If so, pm me por favor.

It might be against the law to record certain things, but there is nothing against the law about using recording software. Smiley: wink

As for what software to use, I can't help ya there. Only way I've read of is to capture it in hardware and that ain't cheap.

XMRadio has a good trance/house/etc station that runs 24/7 and the newer radios have the ability to record to mp3.

If what he's streaming is considered broadcast radio, there shouldn't be any laws against it. Now, I have a software question. Are there any programs that can take a WMV, or MPEG file and convert them to a format so I can burn Video CDs? Also, anything I can do to rip sound from a video clip and record it to just audio only?

a quick visit to tucows, searching "sound capture", gave up these two (though I know nothing about them)

I'm sure there's more where that came from, you can read reviews on tucows.com and download.com

Ive musician friends who have good things to say about audacity. Opensource is good, free is good, I'm not sure it can do what you want it to, but it's worth a look.

What exactly do you mean by video cd?
You can record any video file format to a CD, you just need an appropriate reader to play it back later. My DVD player plays dvd (which is a format type) mpeg, mp3, and at least 5 other file formats from CD and DVDs (which is also a media type)

I've never used it but have heard good things of AVS video converter, and I know freeware conversion tools exist as well.

My DVD player too supports video CDs, yet when I pop in a burned CD with a WMV on it, no dice. Perhaps I need to convert WMV to MPEG? Damn! Reading the description of that program, it seems you answered both of my questions with one program. Rate ups for j00.

BBC uses some mod of Realplayer and I'm not sure what kiss100 uses, but its the site's own player. Not sure if that helps.

No way, that would be too easy.
