This is the deal, I have a netgear(wgt626v2) router. I have the PS2 thats plays FFXI as the DMZ server, turn off the SPI and firewall but I still get the boot after hour or sooner. Its works ok hook up to the modem. With it set up as the DMZ do I still need to open the ports? Also when port forwading on the router if I choose 1-65534 TCP/DHP, will that open all the ports?

Why do you feel the need to setup a demilitarized zone?

Yes, but you only should open some of them

Make sure the following ports are open on your router/firewall:
-TCP 25, 80, 110, 443 or 50000 - 65535
-UDP 50000 - 65535

I dont see it hurting your ps2, but it opens you puters to everything the firewall is sposed to protect it from. You really shouldn't fiddle with ports < 5000.

Thats what Netgear told me to do because its a " catch all". I would play for 15 mintues and get the boot. Now with it setup as DMZ I can go for 45minutes or so before I get error 4001. The only time I can get a group is when I have it hook up to the modem.
