I have DSL, and more than 1 computer. They're both connected through a router, but as of yet I've been unable to get them to share between each other. I want to be able to pull some data off of my old one, and let both computers print from one printer. Main computer is runnin XP Home, old comp is running Win2K. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Right click on the connection >> properties

Make sure Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks are both listed. If not enable them via the install button.

You can check that both computers see each other by opening network neighborhood >> entire network >> microsoft windows ntwork >> whatever you named your workgroup >> both computers should be listed here

Then jump over to the printers page and right click the printer you want to use >> Properties >> Sharing

On the sharing tab there will something like
Share this printer as:
Give it a name.

Now on your other computer go to the printers tab and select add printer. Look for a network printer you should be able to browse right to it, set it as your default printer and start using it.

Similar process to move data, you need to set up a shared folder on one or the other, or both. It is a good idea to make a folder at c:\Shared , and you really shouldn't share the entire drive. right click >> properties >> sharing
Same thing, share this folder, You'll likely want to pay more attention to permission settings here. You can add or restrict access by groups or by specific users.

Those are the most basic of basics, I don't what you've already tried.

Well, after coming home it no longer works. Main computer can see the other one, but can't access any shared material. Old computer can't see sh[red][/red]it. I really don't want to spend alot of time getting this to work. It might wind up being easier to just buy a USB Flash Drive.

It didn't give me any errors, just wasn't showing up. I've gotten it fixed now, not sure how, and all my old files are now on the new computer. Printing is also working from old computer to new printer. Thanks guys for all your help, rate ups for all. From the old computer I could type the name to the new one easy, as it's easily rememberable. Going the other way...uh-uh. Too hard remembering Home_275819e6cb or something other like that.
