Question about my monitor.Follow

#1 May 04 2005 at 4:55 AM Rating: Decent
I normally have my resolution at 1600x1200, and the only refresh frequency my monitor supports at that resolution is 60hz. The problem is, when I run in 800x600 or lower, say for a game or something (most recently, Fallout 2), at 60hz, my monitor makes a very annoying whistling sound that doesn't go away. It's fine anywhere above that, but like I said, I normally run at 1600x1200 and I can only use 60hz. Is there any way to set it so that when it switches to a different resolution it switches refresh rates too?

When an application takes fullscreen mode it manages it's own resolution and refresh rates based on what the monitor says is available. If the game doesn't have the option to select a mode in some settings panel, I don't think there's much you can do.

There might be some software around the web to hook the o/s monitor modes available function or to somehow manage video settings profiles, but I've never looked. Try googlin or searching cnet/tucows.

I'm using the manufacturer's (Samsung) drivers.
