Hello all you techies, ive been playing FFXI for a while now and every so often ill DC, so i power cycle my router, Netgear Cable/DSL Web Safe Router Gateway RP614, and my connection comes back.

Recently it has been happening more often, and its starting to bug, so i asked my friend who was good with computers and he told me that i could forwrd my ports to get a healty connection with what ever i get my internet and what ever allows me to connect to the FFXI server.

He told me to read up on it and ive tried but im 'we-tod-ed' when it come to technical stuff on the compy. So if someone could write a 'guide' so to speak on how to forward my ports, it would be greatly appreciated. O, i also download stuff of the internet for periods of time and that take forever and i should be DLing stuff pretty fast cause i have cable, if that helps at all. Thank you in advance.

I'm not writing any sort of guide until you can tell me whether or not your machine is clean of spyware.

Check the sticky at the top of this forum and get back to me when you're sure your machine is clean.

Hmm thanks for the link, i think think it helped, but how do i detect the IP adress for the server im trying to connect to? For example: How would i forward my ports to Bittorrent and get theyre IP adress?
