Windows Installer Error - Playonline won't installFollow

I played FFXI on my older computer until it got a virus and I had to swipe. I reinstalled Windows, and every other program I've installed works perfectly, no problems.

However..

When I tried to install Playonline to get back into FFXI, I got as far as choosing my install directory and then at 0%, it brought up:

Error 1639 - Command line argument
Check the Windows Installer SDK for help

I called POL's customer support twice and did what they said, but to no avail. I've updated to SP2 and all that good stuff, as well as reinstalled Windows Installer and some .msi scripts manually, but that still won't fix the problem. I'm wondering why this one program is having trouble installing. It's a real bummer.

If anyone has any idea what I should do, or has some sort of programming knowledge, hit me me back so I can get back to gaming with you guys.

I've got all my recent updates.

I have a feeling something is biffed with Windows Installer in the registry somewhere. I just hope it's not one of those "Reinstall Windows!" problems. There's got to be some way to fix it..
