FFXI and taking FRAPs movies...Follow

Hello. I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered elsewhere but I ran a search and couldn't find any results.

I was wondering how people are able to take such good movies with FRAPS while playing FFXI. Is it just that their systems are that good that they can take the video without lagging?

My system is as follows:

Motherboard: MSI K7N2 Delta 2
Processor: AMD Sempron 2600 (I think, I get the numbers confused)
1gb Kingston DDR RAM (2 512mb sticks)
FX Card: ATI Radeon 9800 pro (128mb)
100gb+ of free HD space
Windows XP OS
I think that's everything the sticky said to include

Direct X is the most current, as is the graphics card driver (Catalyst downloaded from the ATI website).

I've downloaded Ad-aware and Spybot S&D and have cleaned out my PC both in safe mode then again in regular start up and do that frequently to make sure there isn't anything on it. I've also checked msconfig to keep the start up programs to the bare minimum.

Game Settings:
I don't want to put these too low because I want a good quality video, otherwise I probably won't be doing many videos. I have the background resolution at it's highest, MIP Mapping is off, environmental animation on. I have footstep effects and weather off (wouldn't mind having those on but I can live without it). Resolution is at 1024 x 768 (I think that's it, I'm at work right now so I can't check for sure Smiley: blush).

Whenever I try to take video, even if I'm the only one in the zone the FPS drops to around 10 where it was at 29-30 before. Is my system just too slow to try this out? If so, where is the bottleneck (if not the whole system)? I was trying to tape myself doing a BCNM solo but had to stop the video because the game became so sluggish I couldn't control my character.

Actually you will have to set FRAPS to take 10 or so frames per second. Else it tries for as many as it can and makes things very laggy if you don't give it a maximum.

I'll give that a try, thank you.
