I was wondering if its possible to copy all the playonline and ffxi to another comp, instead of going through the 5-6 hr time of reinstalling and updating.

Good question.

I'd give it a go and see what happens if I were you, at the very worst you'll waste 30 minutes copying and stuffing around with your hard drives. At the very best you'll save yourself 5 hours installation/updates.

Please post your results ^^.

It worked for me when I still played ffxi, I don't see why it wouldn't still work. You still need to install it to get the registry entries setup, but then just overwrite everything in the program files/pol folder and save yourself the updates.

No i dont think this works anymore. I think you will get a POL-5128 error message. I could be wrong tho...

Do you only want FFXI to go on that other computer? Because a while ago, I found a nice thing that explains what to do if you are switching all your hardware specs without reinstalling windows/etc.

Just first Norton Ghost the hard drive and then do the stuff listed here: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=772307

I don't see why you would not want to make a complete copy/image of your hard drive in the case that stuff other than FFXI might come in useful.

It doesn't work, there are too many registry settings set to the original location that when you try to move them, it doesnt work. I tried it before, it just didnt open playonline at all. I had to reinstall, but its the updates that take long, not the install.

Just use norton ghost and everything will be tha same as on the first comp...ghost is awesome prog. I'd suggest ghosting the whole HD so you get all the registry stuff also, if the two comps have similar chipsets of course..
