After ffxi finished upgrading finally(joy) I log in and bam 10 seconds later I get booted from FFXi and Pol and return to window screen no error message or anything. I try several times and still have the same thing happen. This never happeneded before the update however. Anyone else encounter a similar problem after updating? I have re-started pol re-started comp still it boots no more the 10 seconds into the game. I was connected to the game each time however my character in lower jeuno and i am yet to see another character physically though however I did a /sea all and saw that others were on before being kicked out.
Anyone know if this is due to congestion or something else? Do i need to reinstall FFxi?(groan...;;)

Try doing the file checks from inside POL first.
Then contact square support about the problem via their online help.

There was a DDoS attack late last night/early this morning. I am not sure if that may have caused your problems, but it is quite possible.
well i just reinstalled ffxi / pol but the F*#(432 is stil there trying to contact a GM through pol now. btw can someone check under ffxi in your drive if you have the file polboot ? the name sounds a bit suspicious. And if possible can someone list all the files under pol / ffxi after the update? I would like to check if my update is messing up with files or something. Thanks

I have the same problem here. its been 2 days and its still the same. i cant play the game -.-
Hmm 2 people. I don't know if its related to DDos attack but if it is more people should also be having this problem. and right now most people are playing the game without problems quite frankly. I tried contacting Gm's but their duty hours are up >_<"" i am really getting pissed at this now. No reasons no nothing just kicks me out. I can use POL np but damn ffxi .. /sigh.
If You've re-installed and it's still happening it's not beyond the realm of possibility that you have a hardware problem.

Ok, I'm getting a POL-1160 "Version Update Error" I've already updated POL & FFXI... orz

Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Not sure what the drawbacks would be to that (other than loosing your macros) and I was able to update my game this morning with no trouble.
well i just did a file check from POL no problems there on POL and FFXI. Now i am completely lost. I did re-install but problem still persists. If there is a problem with my hardware i don't see why or how. None of my other software/ programs are en countering any problems. Just everytime i start ffxi i get booted right back. I have tried running other games as such too and they seem to work fine.(Warcraft tft/halo though its not quite the same thing). I am yet to get my computer checked completely but i did virus scans except for a few trojans here and there(all deleted) nothing else showed. I am playing on my laptop for about 5months + already and this is the first problem I encountered with it regarding FFXI. I am sure it had something to do with the Update as it the problem didn't exist before that. Was there any special content /files added in the patch that might affect it? Suggestions would be highly appreciated
##$$#$3# I figured out what the problem was... i turned on bump mapping in ffxi config ; ;. After i turned it off wala I can play again. All the $#it for no reason. Sorry guys and thanks for your suggestions. But to anyone having problems make sure you your configurations for POL and FFXI are ok before you end up reformating your comp / re-installing. I got so pissed at myself after I found it. I hope no one else encounters this problem because it #$#ks

Go to Start >> all programs >> playone >> ffxi >> ffxi config >> then set everything to default then try.
You can later increase your graphic resolution and see if your laptop can hold up other just play default
