FFXI Crash, NVSp_4.dllFollow

Im not sure if this is the rights place for this... I looked through, and did not see my exact problem.

While playing FFXi, Occasionally the Graphics will start freaking out on me. Entire areas disappear, Formations disappear.

And then it crashes not only my FFXi, but my comp. It was one of those blue screen errors.

It said something like: NVSp_4.dll has caused an error. Obviously a part of the Nvidia files(and yeah, I looked at their site for an answer, and since I did not register my product, I am not able to get help).

At the very bottom, it said it had performed a memory Flush. I dont really know what that means. No other programs were running at the time, and I have never had a problem like this before. It is also starting to affect other programs.

My System:OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name OWNER-BSRSP6OHS
System Manufacturer IBM
System Model 8199KUV
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~2591 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date IBM 24KT52AUS, 3/4/2004
SMBIOS Version 2.31
Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
System Directory C:\WINDOWS\System32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
Locale United States
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.1106 (xpsp1.020828-1920)"
User Name OWNER-BSRSP6OHS\Uchitoru

Available Physical Memory 195.22 MB
Total Virtual Memory 1.72 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.15 GB

Not sure if all that is needed or not, but I really need to get this fixed. Also, I've checked for Dust and everything in my Comp, and found nothing.

Any help that anyone could give me would be great appreciated.

EDIT: I got the name wrong. It's NV4_disp.dll. Just happened again while I was playing the game... This time there was no warning signs(Graphics freaking out. Running normally, and then it just dies...)

EDIT AGAIN: Forgot something. On the top, it says something about Page threading or something. It also says something like NO_PAGE_.... I dont remember the last part. Nvidia is of no help at all. They should really allow you to ask questions, or talk to customer support without registering.

NVidia refer all customer support to the third parties who actually manufacture cards.

What type of Nvidia card do you have there? My first suggestion would be to update your drivers, but the ones to choose depend on your card as newer driver sets with some Nvidia cards can cause problems in FFXI.

Geforce MX 4000.

I updated the drivers, but that did'nt seem to help much. Im going to try and use the game again, and see if it crashes. Hopefully it does'nt, but im not sure what I can really do about this.

Cant believe I forgot to mention my Card model, but listed everything else...

I'd say your card has had it's day, think about getting a new one.

Oh... That sort of sucks, as I really cant afford another card at the moment.

Also, I was looking through some places, and it seems that a lot of Cards are having this problem(Like the 5xxx,6xxx series), not just the 4xxx series.

But, Nvidia has not realeased a Fix for this at all, and have not even mentioned the problem.

Also, I had to modify the back of my Case to even get this card to fit, so I doubt I could really find another one like this.

Oddly enough, the Graphic freak outs have stopped, but it's still crashing. Just running through Bastok, and there's the Blue Screen.

Sort of hate to bump this, but after giving the card a break, it's crashed again after only a week of use.

The problem is not the card. I know that Blowfin told me that my card has had it's day, but the card itself is not that old. Maybe the actual model is old, but the card is only 4-5 months old.

The problem is with NV4_disp.dll.

I think there is some program called Driver Verify or something, that can check out your drivers, but I've yet to find it.

Anyone else think they could help me with this?
I know that buying another card may stop the problem, but I dont think that that is necessary, and it's not guaranteed that it will help at all. FFXi is the only reason I even have the card.

That is indeed a driver file. Try deleting it, use drivercleaner, then reinstall it. It could just be corrupted.

Any idea where I would be able to find this Driver Cleaner?

And, will it completely uninstall all Nvidia drivers, or would I be able to just selevt NV4_disp?

EDIT: Nevermind. Found the website. I'll edit this again if it works out.

EDIT Again: Well, I ran Driver Cleaner. Took all of the steps it mentioned. And, FF just crashed on me again.

Seems like these constant crashes are eventually going to ruin my computer. Even worse then the crash(Which sadly, I've gotten used to) is that I was in the process of bruning a Dvd(Very low setting so it would'nt interfere with FF).
Five Hours wasted... Guess I wont play the game again until I can get this fixed.
