I need a new graphics card.

after reviewing the cards FFXI doesn't work with I'm rather torn at where to go, I don't want to go over 400$ but would like to stay between 300-350 if not lower...

Can anyone help me out, give me some suggestions? :B

You should be able to find plenty of cards good enough for FFXI in that price range. Couple of things needed for clarification though. Is your video PCI, AGP, or PCIe? How knowledgable are you with installing PC hardware?

I hear that the X800 Ultra works great with FFXI. I am honestly fine with my 9800Pro, which right now costs around $150 retail...

Don't know why you have to get an upper-end card if it's onry for FFXI.

I'm rather knowledgable, but at the moment can't remember what kinda mother board I have (I'm ashamed I know)

but I do know that atm I have a Radeon 9000 and it's crapping out on me, I have 1gb Ram P4... so kinda wondering why it's funking up on the graphics

and I'd like a high end card since I also use Photoshop etc etc

and I just want the pretty triangles :B

Actually interestign thing is that you don't need a good video card to run Photoshop well.

Photoshop depends on mostly the processor. As do other graphical programs...Only high-end 3D applications liek 3dsMax can utilize your graphics card's GPU to some extent...and even then, not really much.

I run a 32MB ATI Rage 128Pro on the computer on which I do most of my photoshopping...real photoshopping...like over 200MB files occasionally. It works almost as well as on my new computer where I have a video card that is around 20 times better than the first one and the processor is 150% times faster.
