Asus K8N-E ProblemFollow

#1 Aug 26 2005 at 7:16 PM Rating: Decent
Well, for some reason, whenever I press the Tilde key I get ¬

And on the number pad above my alphabet I get such characters as (while holding shift)

!"£$%^&*

And when trying to hit the quotation key, I get an @

It seems that a few are just switched, but others are completely fubar.

Tilde is now ¬

Shift + 2 is now "

Shift + ' is now @

Back slash without shift is #

Back Slash with shift is ~

Shift + 3 is now £

I just reformatted my computer, too. Brand new motherboard and all ~_~

Any and all help is appreciated.

Sounds like your keyboard mappings are slightly askew.

Try checking you keyboard type under control panel->regional settings->languages-> details. It should be standard US, maybe that's your problem.

Then again, maybe not.

Is the seperator plate that keeps the motherboard clear of your case at the back correctly installed? It almost sounds to me like you are experiancing a short.

Oh no, it's no short, because my friend has the exact same problem.

He has an Asus Mobo and an Eluminex Keyboard. But, could it have something to do with my version of windows? I can't check that information right now because of power difficiluties. (Im in the area that was hit by Katrina.)

Im currently running Windows Nemesis 2.0. (A fixed version of windows that does not have a CD key, pre installed SP2 and a few other tweaks.)

I will check this whenever power becomes available that isnt in the form of a generator ~.~

Also, I cannot figure out why, but now whenever Im in FFXI, I cannot make the @ symbol using Shift + '

>_<

Thank you all for your help, Ill be sure to try these solutions whenever I can.

Edit: Very strange typo O_o

UPDATE: I had my friend mess around with the regional info and all of that fun stuff, restarted his computer and voi la! Fixed!

Thank you again to everyone that posted here ;D
