Screen just diesFollow

Ive talked to the Square Enix techs about 5 times about this problem and they have about as much of a clue as an unborn fetus. After I create my character it gets to the 'downloading data' screen than freezes and turns all black, after that it unfreezes and i can hear the in game music and see my cursor but otherwise the screen is entirely black. I am using GeForce FX550 card with Square Enix reccomended driver(not the latest one) and have my firewalls turned completely off. I also am not connected through a router so it doesnt seem to be a port problem. God please help me I really want to play this game again and the techs havent been able to figure out whats wrong. I tried it with newest drivers first then Techs told me to try older ones also Direct X is totally updated. Specs: AMD 64 3200, 1 GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce 5500. Thanks!

drivercleaner.net isnt showing up for me and no, i didnt run it first. Secondly yes I can play other 3d games.
