Edit data files for World of WarcraftFollow

#1 Sep 28 2005 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
This is for World of Warcraft

Ok, I went and downloaded "MyWarCraftStudio" to open up the *.mpq files so that I can edit some of the stuff within the game. However I need a little help from some experts here if possible.

My goal is to change the color of certain textures/skins in the game.

Initially, I thought I needed to go into the models.mpq and look around in there. I found the model that I want to edit, but when i took the *.mpq file to a different machine that does NOT have WoW. I found out that the texture will no longer display when I load the model.mpq. It just shows a white model. Ok, I get that not a problem.
But what I was wanting to find out is where are the textures hidden for the models?

Also, what kind of file format are the textures?

and how does one edit those images and get them re-packaged into the *.mpq?

The last thing is, are the textures for a model named in such a way that if you know the model name (lets say G_fishbobber.m2), then the texture has a similar name to easily find it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

This is the most I have seen on the subject. Many posters would rather the thread die, but it does have alot of info in it.

Yea, i'm hoping it doesn't turn into the whole damn nude patch thing because that would be just annoying for me. All I'm looking for is a way to change a few textures, mainly changing the colors for certain areas.
