Just been getting this tonight. Thought it was my video card drivers, because I had problems with them before. Whiped those out completely (gotta love when you exactly where to go). Nothing.

Only happens in FFXI, windows and everything else runs correctly. Sometimes the game will run for maybe 20 minutes, then do it. Other times it does it right as I log in. Only happens once I am in game, not before.

Looked over registry, looks ok to me. Only added AIM, and a web cam lately (other than the patch). Ripped the drivers for the web cam, still doing it. This thing has me stumped. So, I turn here.

That could be a great number of things, when you say "everything" else is running fine are you referring to other games or just windows?

System spec's are always a handy thing to post on here.

You may want to think about testing a couple of hardware components for a start, but if it's only happened post update the chances of these turning up any problems are pretty slim;
-RAM (http://www.memtest86.com/)
-Hard Drive (http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/index.html)

You can burn up bootable images of those two and boot your machine straight into the tools. Run memtest for at least 30 minutes and do a full media scan of your hard drive.

EDIT: did you clean out your drivers completely using driver cleaner and then try re-installing them? It might be worth trying some different driver versions too.
